So, I decided today to try Casper, my male virgin snow with Winter, my female virgin snow today. I've tried Casper with two other females and gotten no real interest out of him. But when I put him in with Winter- oh MAN were they interested!

Lots of jerky "popping and locking" dancing and slithering over top of each other and chasing each other around the cage. here I am holding my breath and super excited, then I notice that Winter seems to be the one doing the chasing...and the one climbing on top of Casper.... and boom! They lock. But definitely not what I expected.

CASPER is a girl, and WINTER is a boy. Gee, no wonder Casper wasnt showing any interest in the other girls!

I bought Casper and Winter as an unrelated pair of yearlings from the same breeder two years ago and he sexed them in front of me. Casper is a snow with yellow patches and Winter is a strawberry snow so I could tell them apart easily. Either when he handed them to me he mixed up the results, or I mixed them up when I got home :p either way WHOOPS.

BUT YAAAAY SNOW BABIES COMING!

Wouldn't two boys spar? I've never heard of two boys actually locking for a good 15-20 minutes

Ah well- new probes will be here in a few days (I lost mine) and I can double check everyone.

I've had male Ball Pythons get together. Kevin Mcurley states in his book that some males get together for "Fun".

Whether the same can be said for corn....I do Not Know.

I read somewhere that 90% of documented giraffe matings are actually between two males.

Not at all related to my possibly bi-curious snows, but fairly interesting :D

Just because some guy published it, do you really think an animal with a brain the size of what, a pinhead, can have "fun?". Pheromones control mating. They aren't in love; they aren't having fun.

I've had two male ball pythons "mate" on several occasions. It's not uncommon with that species at all. It's probably a dominance thing that goes a bit too far.

"Fun" was probably not the best choice of words, but Kevin knows what he is talking about.

Whoa!!! There Girlie!! :) "I" never said they were having fun....I said it was written in a book..by Kevin Mcurley....And I provided proof to said claim.

That is all.

Now, If you read that carefully, you'll see he even admits that it's most likely from frustration...& desperation.

Doubtful that snakes actually feel Joy...or have "Fun". But I think I can argue, that most experience anger & fear.

And before this goes much further...

I apoligize to the OP. we kinda stomped on your thread here.

Heres to Hoping it was a Male/Female Lock....and you have tons of babies pipping in a few months!
