Is 3/8" wood going to be strong enough for a cage that size? I would be worried about bowing, especially on the top. For a 48" cage, I'd use at least 3/4".

Thats good to know Tom thanks for sharing it.tom e said:Here's something else I learned about flex watt that anyone new to it might do well to know.
On my viv, I have a top and bottom unit.. I use the 11" flexwatt on both. Well I thought at one point that 11" flexwatt = 11" flexwatt regardless of where I bought it, so I set up the top unit with a helix thermostat and 11" from reptilebasics.com. Later when I bought a second snake, I picked up 1' of 11" from beanfarm, figuring I could run it on the same thermostat. The result was that when one viv was warm enough the other was too cool. And when the second was warm enough, the first was too hot. Ok, so they come in different wattages.
I know this is obvious for people who are familiar with the product, but someone just starting with it might want to know that up front.. :grin01:
