Frozen Feeder Opinions

I was wondering what everyones opinion as to where is the best place to order frozen feeders on-line. I don't want to do a poll because I really don't know all the available sites. I've researched some sites and the ones I've liked the best so far are...... Rodentpro.com and The Mouse Factory. I read the testomonials on both sites but I would like to get peoples opions from here so at least I no there not fake or played with.

Thank you,
Hilary

I've used both sites that you listed. TMF gets my recommendation. RP shorted me 3 mice on my last order from them. They did offer me a refund on the missing mice but TMF gets my business from now on.

:poke:

I've used RodentPro successfully for better than 4 years now. They're at a local monthly show so I also save on shipping.

Thanks for the replies. I'm still not sure the prices are pretty close I just want a good quality product for my new baby.

Ive ordered a couple times from rodentpro. and gotta say They dont have the best looking mice. I try to with stay local breeders or my own stock. But I have been happy with rodentpro's customer service and speed.

The Mouse Factory has perfect mice. They arrive in sturdy packaging and are snow white, lined up neatly, gorgeous. See my thread "Never Cheat On The Mouse Factory." But, having said that, I have been buying Gourmet Rodent because I can pick it up. They are loosely packed and a little smelly and I find the occasional poo.

I'm a Mouse Factory guy myself. They are really nice people to deal with and the mice are beautiful.

Well, I use Rodent Pro currently. Quality is fine and customer service is FANTASTIC.

Big Cheese drives up my blood pressure... I used to be a devoted customer of theirs, until they treated me like crap one to many times. Perhaps they should get off their "high horse" and go back to getting some customer service...

Oh wait, guess they don't have to, because almost every time I order something, they are SOLD OUT! So I guess in the end they do get the last laugh, they aren't hurting or anything from my lack of business! lol :)

Oh well, to each their own!

Rebecca

I have never order frozen mice from any company because the shipping was so outrageous.

For TMF, I just looked on their "quick and easy" rate guide and this is what I saw:

50 ADULT $35.00 / $45.25 shipping / $80.25 Total

Each mouse is 70 cents each (great price) but when you add shipping $1.61 each.

I can get them from the pet store for $1.50 each and they are fresh.

Please help me understand the logic here because I'm sorry, I just don't get it.

I am currently breeding my own feeders for about 10 snakes (just started).

You're right... if you buy that many feeders, you're not going to save much. I ordered 550 mice (of varying sizes). Total for the mice was $142.00. Cost of shipping was $86.42. Total cost was $228.42.

Total per mouse... 41.5 cents each. You have to order enough to justify the shipping charge.

The thing is... if I could have found someone who wanted to order also, it would have saved me even more!!!! The box was only 7% full... LOL.

I totally agree with you, Thunderer. The quantity order where it would definately be practical savings but for us little guys (25, 50 or 100) out there, it just doesn't compute.

Thanks

Online/shipped feeders aren't marketed for those who want to buy in such small quantities. There's nothing really to "compute" as you're trying to compare bulk to small time sales. If you are only after a handful of feeders you're better off picking up at a local show if you're paying $1.50/each at a pet store.

This is EXACTLY what I'm hoping to do next Saturday at one of the shows here... I need more Large pinks & fuzzies... LOL. I bought more snakes AFTER I made my initial purchase. LOL.

Thank you for the responses but ordering on-line is something I fell I must do. the closest place to me to get frozen feeders is a Petco and those are just pitiful. They use Gourmet Rodent and I'm not impressed.

Well, I do have to order online because the nearest place to buy them in person is 120 miles away. Any opinions on frozenrodent.com?

I don't know about Frozenrodent.com... sorry...

BUT, I must share that I had planned on purchasing feeder rodents at last weekend's show... but that was a BUST... so I had to order from RodentPro.com again... and was VERY SURPRISED! They had a sale and, when everything was tallied up, I was paying 20.1 cents EACH... not bad and I probably should have ordered more. However, the sale might have ended already.

I know a lot of others have had some issues with RodentPro, but I have YET to have a bad batch or have some of the horror stories I've heard. Hopefully, that never happens.

Just to be sure, though, I did notice that Wal-mart now has those vacuum seal machines and bags available. I just might look into that so that I can even better take care of the stuff I get from RodentPro. Of course, buying this stuff may have to be added into the total cost, increasing the cost per rodent. LOL.

I recently started breeding my own mice and asf rats but until they start producing for me I think I am going to try peticebox. They have a flat rate shipping of $28.50 for orders under $200, it seems like a good thing for those of us who don't need enormous quantities.

Just a suggestion for those who haven't explored it - try finding a local supplier. I found one or two on craigslist before I realised Big Cheese is pretty close to me, and made a run over there - not everyone is lucky enough to have a major supplier nearby, but you might look around, maybe ask your (local) petshop if they have a local supplier... Worth a try, anyway.
