Well, this is updated from another thread. My female mouse gave birth to 13 heathly babies. Anyway, these are the three that are left, and I thought they deserved a photoshoot.

Anyway a few questions,

How long do these guys have before they open there eyes?
How do I sex them this young?

Thanks and enjoy the pictures!

lolol. I was looking for more of a obvious thing, :grin01: . Never even thought like that, now I get to go disturb them again :)

Yup. You should see 6 distinct "dots" on the females' bellies. It's also pretty easy to compare their genitals the females' are close together and the males' are pretty far apart compared to the females'. If you want to post some pictures of their bellies we could help you sex them.

at least you got a female left... I decided to sex after I culled a bunch because I needed another female... I had all males left  oops...

out of curosity, which one in the photos is the female?

The one that is the light brown. Which is really weird. I have a adult in that cage IDENTICAL to each one of the babys, and the light brown ADULT is a male, and this light brown FUZZIE is a female, lol.

Gotta love mouse genetics.

:)

Well, I was going to start a breeding colony for feeders, but after seeing those pictures, there is absolutely NO WAY my daughter would ever let me feed one of them to the snake. She would be crying for days, and probably never forgive me.

I just fed our snake her first fuzzy, and even though the thing was bought frozen, she still gave me a hard time about feeding our snake the baby mouse. She didn't really dig on it too much. She would have a fit if I tried to feed it a "pet mouse"...

Lovely mooses! I wish we could get nice fancies over here... Unfortunatley I'm limited to siamse, pied fawn, dutch and white...

You should keep the little pied blonde thingy btw... Hes much more unusual than the fawn!

Are you?
That strange, we have loads of different colours "down south" :grin01:

And the mice are just adorabubble!

I don't think I could breed them and then kill them :(

Heck, I'm "up north" (for England, anyway) and I've got loads of colours - black tan, dove tan, chocolate tan, champagne tan, blue, silver, chocolate, black, argente, cinnamon...

If you're ever down Yorkshire way, Tula, I'd be willing to trade a few of mine for a few Siameses of yours.

English show mice are actually generally 'better' in substance and size than American mice anyway :)

I like the idea that you can use them for shows (not sure if you meant that there are mouse shows, but that's what I'm thinking of), and then when your snakes need food, you just kill the same mice and feed them off. Toss their little breed papers with their fancy names in the shredder on the way to the snake room and wiggle them by their tails over the tub. Ha!
