By no means does your nationality make what you have to say worthless... Thinking along those lines is a little sketchy. I'm Scottish - Does that mean I shouldn't say or do the same things that predominantly Americans on this site do too? Is that to say I shouldn't pay Rich the $25? Hell I don't even know what that is in UK£ but I paid it.

It seems to me like you feel a little singled out because your Canadian?

you have personally advertised the "other" site at least 5 times in the last week with your posts. for hating that site and the people so much, you sure seem to be bringing them in by the masses. it's really not helping your case in downplaying it so much as in reality it is "feeding the monster".

It was an economic joke, Elle, not nationalist petulance. :rolleyes: The Canadian dollar is weak against the American dollar, so 2 cents Canadian is worth less than 2 cents American, which isn't worth very much in the first place. There's nothing I can think of that you can buy for 2 cents, except for someone's opinion. Get it? It was actually a pretty funny joke.

But then I would seemingly waste my time posting a further explanation to this comment so I will simply quote another who said it wonderfully well.

I'll have to agree with Ruth and Dean on this one. God, I can't believe I'm taking this trip down memory lane to school yard politics. I believe it is also immature to put a label on someone just because they don't want to play on the same court all the time. One of those "If you don't play with me all the time, you're not really my friend" type statements I remember well.

Sometimes I'm in the mood for Italian food, sometimes a burger, sometimes Mexican food.... even those categories, there are more choices. If I want Mexican food, do I go to the local taquaria, the nicer restaurant, Taco Bell, or to my friends house for the real deal? At any given moment I could have a different opinion on what sounds the best at the time. Not wanting Taco Bell all the time is not immature. :shrugs:

I visit both forums and I have a private forum on both because I'm "in the mood" to visit both sites enough to warrent that. Sure there is the possibility that I'll "be in the mood" to visit one of the forums less and less to where visting and having a forum is no longer of value to me. I don't understand why some would think that is "bad". Yes, I know of others that have lost their "taste" for this place completely, but I don't see where that is immaturity. It's either their tastes have changed or this place has changed and no longer suits their tastes, either way, there is nothing wrong or immature about that. It's a forum not a marriage.

Well, I don't have time to get into that, I'm sure everyone can read the Chat thread and form their own opinion. I don't know of ANYONE that left on the sole basis of being asked to act like adults in chat. To everyone I know of, there is more to it, but that really doesn't matter. I'm sure someone is bound to post saying the wool is over my eyes and that they are positive that's why people left. But that's OK, there is my opinion, there is someone else's opinion, and if you really want to get it from the horse's mouth... go straight to someone who has left and ask them their reasons. Anything you hear from me or others about it is just hearsay and speculation so it's not very productive to sit here and publically guess about it. :shrugs:

I understand, I hope my tone wasn't misinterpreted. I was just pointing out that there is no accurate way to find out why someone took an action without asking them. I can see dozens of educated guesses that could be formed, but they are just that, guesses.
 
Oh no. You don't have to worry about me taking what you said the wrong way. I just thought that i'd explain myself in case you thought the same about me! :)

just as in school, you have to do your assignments and homework. if you REALLY want to understand what is/has been going on............you would need to start HERE.
i am not saying that this is the sole reason of some members leaving, but to let everyone else who is reading this thread and not sure what all the fuss is about..........there you go. obviously there are going to be other reasons and speculations as to the "hibernation" of some people, but that is a right and freedom that people have and has been perfectly explained with different scenarios before me.

you asked a question, i gave the link where you could find something pertant to this topic/discussion. did my reply sound "holier-than-thou"? did it represent me as someone "better" than you? were you scolded and sent to a corner for time-out? if the answer to the above was yes, then it was read wrong.
you, along with others who may be "out-of-the-loop" were just given a link to a topic that probably had to do with at least 50% of the reason for the thread we are in. this thread and the majority of the others on this site are falling off-topic, taken "out-of-context" and made into a feelings issue. read it or don't, it's not going to hurt my feelings either way............but i understand why some people post what they do because of the previously mentioned thread.
 
.......i would like to defend the "greats" that left and all of the other respectable members that are still here, THIS could be one reason that the site is deteriorating, long-timers are leaving and newcomers don't last long. :shrugs: a simple question by someone that even works in the field gets this kind of answer. she is an american and 38 years old.......which goes to show it does happen to everybody.

I tihnk it all started back with Elles thread about her new boa that got all hiijacked. If you want to go wayy back you could even go to the thread about me and my pelling when Dean put me in my place.
