Hand-made popsicle stick hides

Sticking To The Ceiling
So I got a bit of advice and everyone agreed my corn was obsessed with a hide that I got for her. So, I made two similar hides for her and took the cork bark flat out.

This is the first one I made. Not the best, but it gets the job done.

Second one I made. Looks nicer and is a bit bigger, but it's equally used.

The popsicle sticks are the ones you buy at some place like Micheal's art store. I just used a hot glue gun that melts to glue to 360F to stick 'em together. I used to make some of a different design for my pet rat and my leopard gecko and they both loved them, so I'm happy to see my corn love them too.

I was joking with my mom, yesterday when I made them, that I should call my brother and ask if he wants to buy a couple for a few bucks since he has a small ball python.

You shouldn't have told us about them and just started selling them. You know what suckers we are for new and creative things for our snakes. It's a great idea and I too may have to try my hand at it.

I've got 4 tanks to finish decorating - I'm going to build some like this over the weekend!
I had my kids build hides out of Legos in the meantime - LOL!

You know what's cool about these (and Legos, for that matter), as the snake grows, you can make the hide bigger... I don't like to spend money on small hides for my little ones, knowing that I'll have to upgrade in a year or so.

wow cool looking hides i made some my self for my yearling corns not as nice as those but they do the job....here's a pic of one..

Glad everyone likes them. Making similar ones that are taller, with a bottom, and have an opening from the narrow side also work great for mice/rats. :D

Obsessed with a hide? What does that mean?

I originally put the hide in the middle of the viv. She was always there for the most part. Then I put it on the cool side. She was always there, even after being fed. So then I put it on the warm side. On a day when it got to around 75F in my room, she was STILL there! She had a few other hides and plenty of aspen to burrow in, so I and a few other members concluded she was obsessed with it.

Same here. A big box of around 500 popsicle sticks costs around 10 bucks, I think. That's how much SMALL hides at pet stores cost.

Pretty cool. I bet you could get some good pictures of your corns, too.

I think your snakes deserve the better things in life. You should build them something like this........

JK. Good idea. Great way to get your children involved as well.

Jay, the problem with multiple story hides is that I worry that when the snakes get depressed, they might throw themselves from the balcony. Plus the homeowners insurance on that thing would be a little costly.

Don't forget heating and cooling costs!
HA! If they can afford "digs" like this I think that money isn't a problem.
"Excuse me, but do have any Grey Poupon?"

This is a great idea. It made me think about making a log-cabin like hide for my new snake. I think I'll make one with Popsicle sticks for now kind of like this. Once my snake is full grown I think I might need to invest in Lincoln Logs to make a hide. Great idea on the hides!

This thread inspired my for this hide. My snake likes to literally "hang out" between the top of the Lincoln Logs and the green roof on the right.
