Have you seen an Anery like this?

I stumbled across this picture and the people who bred this animal claim that it was from breeding two wild caught NC corns. They're hoping they've found a new line of Anery. You guys ever seen an Anery look like this b4?

I saw that on fauna. Originally I asked if there had been breeding trials or plans, but edited it and just left a compliment. I think the guy knows it probably isn't a new anery gene, but a 'line' with a nice look like that not like what you would see very often. Kinda remends me of some nice Silver Queen ghosts.

Nice anery, but nothing that would indicate a new line. I've seen several dark, high-contrast anerys, even owned a few. The fading of the saddles on the neck is also not unusual, but often in the anerys, you would see the pink/peach color instead of the nice gray ground color.

Why not?

I don't see any reason it couldn't be a new strain of anery. If it was produced by two normal-looking NC corns that were from wild stock, then it needs to be test bred, obviously, against existing genotypes, and back to his momma, that's the only way to get a clue on this one. Great looking snake, nice high contrast and clean background.

All the established Mendelian traits appeared first somewhere. The snake is pretty, but I don't see anything here that gets me personally excited. That said, another anery trait could be interesting in combination with other things. Charcoal and Anery A give very different phenotypes in combination animals.

Breeding trials will tell if this is something new. For the sake of the people doing that, I hope this fellow is a male. It will speed things up.

What about the head markings? Doesn't look like the normal "key shape" to me. That was just one of the things I was noticing when I first saw this guy.

I wonder what the head marking looked like when he was small, and how much of the design has faded. It's not necessarily indicative of anything, though of course some morphs have distinctive head markings associated with them. I do find head markings interesting though. :)

Very Intresting, I hope the owner goes through the right breeding trials, documents and shares the trials with everyone so we know nothing is funny(not saying this person would try to lie about something, but with the proper contacts and guidance it would look better for them) with this snake. It would be neat if it was something new, however I think we have to remain reserved until then.

Still an Awesome looking snake....

This is my shot in the dark but from the way the borders are it reminds me of the anery version of an okeetee or RO thick borders... like if u got an anery out of an abbots or love line...lol hes handsome...

That thought had crossed my mind as well.

Again, nothing unique about the head pattern. That is a typical skull type pattern found in many bloodreds and het bloodreds as well as being caused by the masque gene. I would highly recommend that at least one of the test breedings be done to a known bloodred expressing the masque/skull head pattern. It wouldn't surprise me that perhaps one of those wc parents was an escapee.

Reminds me of Kathy's Special Ghosts.. Its a unique head pattern, for sure.. Reminds me of the Lava's head pattern...

It looks like a brighter, crisper anery...which is what I would expect if it was descended from NC corns...they tend to have a different normal look than your typical florida corns. Can anyone point me to the fauna link?

Hey Guys,

Yes, I have the ads for the hets up. A friend of mine owns this Anery male. He was produced by Mike at Dunns Mt. reptiles from 2 wild caught ( montgomery county I believe ) NC corns. Highly doubtful that either one was an escapee as someone brought up.

I believe the plan is to breed this Anery male to a known Anery line this coming season and hopefully a known charcoal line the year after. He is also going to be bred to a female sibling coming season.

I will be more than happy to keep folks in the loop on this guy and any future breedings. No reason to be sneaky or tricky, it is afterall an Anery corn so whether it proves to be a new line or not I don't think will be life changing for anyone.

Thanks
Stu
