My racks come with heat pre-installed. Either heat cable or Flexwatt. The heat cable is routed along the rear of the shelves, across the bottom, down the side, across the bottom, down the other side. The Flexwatt goes straight down the back wall of the rack.
All racks have a Herpstat ND thermostat and probed digital thermometers.
I use Animal Plastics Economy Plastic 66 quart racks for adults and Reptile Basics 16 bin Iris hatchling racks for hatchlings. AP has the heat cable (special order, they usually use Flexwatt) and the RB racks have Flexwatt.

One of the more popular ways is to use Flexwatt Heat Tape, as you can cut it to the desired shape you need.
Another suggestion is Repti Heat Cable, though I have no experience with this product and would only use it UNDER the tank, regardless of it being advertised as a heat source you can place inside of your tank. I've heard too many burn stories.

Flexwatt with a thermostat for me, though it's starting to get warm enough in the house where I won't need it as much (I hate living on a third floor facing the sun and not having air conditioning!).
