I am new not only to this site, but to the world of snakes as a whole. I was always discouraged by everyone from having a snake. I felt almost guilty for wanting a pet that seemed so reviled. Now that I have grown passed the early years of caring how family and friends feel about my vast array of strange hobbies, I have revisited my unfulfilled love of snakes. I have just purchased my first corn snake, a phantom, scheduled to ship in two weeks, when my son gets home from his dad's. I have created a vivarium out of an old cabinet, which I am putting the finishing touches on tomorrow. I am very excited about this new phase in my life. I've had almost every kind of conventional pet with fur and feathers known to man- rats, cats, dogs, fish, doves, horses, rabbits, mice, finches, etc etc. But something feels different about getting a snake. There's something about snakes that commands respect. I think this is going to be a much more rewarding experience.
