Hello! I am new here!

I am new not only to this site, but to the world of snakes as a whole. I was always discouraged by everyone from having a snake. I felt almost guilty for wanting a pet that seemed so reviled. Now that I have grown passed the early years of caring how family and friends feel about my vast array of strange hobbies, I have revisited my unfulfilled love of snakes. I have just purchased my first corn snake, a phantom, scheduled to ship in two weeks, when my son gets home from his dad's. I have created a vivarium out of an old cabinet, which I am putting the finishing touches on tomorrow. I am very excited about this new phase in my life. I've had almost every kind of conventional pet with fur and feathers known to man- rats, cats, dogs, fish, doves, horses, rabbits, mice, finches, etc etc. But something feels different about getting a snake. There's something about snakes that commands respect. I think this is going to be a much more rewarding experience.
Cheers!
Una

Welcome to the forum and the world of snakes!
I hope you enjoy both!
Be sure to post pics of your new one!

Welcome! You will learn a lot on this forum, don't hesitate to ask any questions!

I'm new to having snakes as well... You sound a lot like me! I've had so many different pets through the yeas and I was always discouraged because it seemed like no one liked the idea of having a pet snake (most still don't)! But I'm happy to say, after moving into my own place, I took the plunge as well! I already feel the fever and the addiction that comes with it. We'll learn together! Welcome!

Welcome to the forum! I think you're really going to enjoy your new little snake.

Hello and welcome! I'm so glad that one of my babies is going to a member of this forum and I'll get to see updates! Do you have a name picked out yet or waiting to meet the little one first?

I tried doing a photo shoot with your baby awhile ago but she did not want to cooperate! Finally my husband held her while I snapped a few semi decent pictures. Such a wiggle worm.

Oh my goodness! She is so beautiful!!! <3 What amazing pictures you got! Yeah, I think I've settled on the name Suke, which derives from the fig tree nymph in Greek mythology, Syke.
Thanks for the welcome, everyone! I am looking forward to sharing my journey!

SO pretty! And she has a sweet little face that goes with her! Your post #7, 3rd pic down is just precious!

Suke got weighed today and ate her 9th meal. She hatched at 7 grams and is at 12.3 grams now. She is 2 months old today!

Gorgeous!! As for what everyone else thinks, I have never yet met a person who has had a pet snake and still thought it was a bad idea. Have you also noticed that the only people who don't think they make great pets are people who've never had one? ;)

My mother is here visiting at the moment and wanted to see the snakes that everyone I've been talking to are interested in. So while she held them, I snapped a few pictures. Here is #5, Suke, being a little wiggle worm like usual!

Suke just had her third shed the other day and her 10th and final meal here with me today!

Poor Una, Tavia teasing you with those awesome pics! It's like a kid waiting for Christmas! It will all be worth the wait, I promise.
