She is about 15 inches and very well behaved so far.

I got her from petsmart is why I was wondering

Honestly, then there is no way to really know for sure what she is. We can say what she looks like.
I am sorry but I can't understand why someone would buy an animal (and pay a pretty steep price) from a place that can't even tell them what it is they bought!

She is beautiful though.

One thing though, she is a really pretty lil somethingorother and I know you want her to do well for you. One of the most important things to help your new little one settle in is that she should be left alone in her cage for at least a week with no handling or disturbances of any kind. That will help her adjust to her new home without fear, and it will increase the chances that she will eat and thrive for you.

For a lot of us, it's the only and or easier option. Don't have many/any breeders here in KC that I know of. Craigslist had nothing advertised at the time. Not everyone has a credit card or means available to pay high breeder prices and shipping. PetCo sold me little Plissken for 39.99 cash. Hardly steep and rather convenient.

Given your scenario though, I can see how this is a hard concept to grasp, and I understand any possible passion you have on the issue (if any really). Not that I endorse major pet store purchases but again, in some circumstances it's the most viable.

There just has to be other options than some corperate giant of a big box store.......
Breeder prices on regular morphs tends to be much lower than those places anyhow. A lovely normal like Plissken would probably cost $10-20 from a breeder. Maybe even less. The killer is the shipping.

Most folks buying their first Corn won't know that though. They won't even be aware of the potential pitfalls, so they won't know that it's a good idea to go away and look for local breeders instead. It's not until someone is a member of a Corn keeping community, that the potential issues will become apparent. And that will be the minority of owners.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but it's all most of us have after we've bought our first Corn.

Very true.

It just kind of bugs me that just about anything else we buy, we have a pretty good idea what it is. But with snakes we just buy from any old place with no clue what we are even looking at!

And I have to say, a ghost mot from a place like that is a pretty sweet find!

I have to agree with some. I bought my first corn snake from Petco. He is a true blessing and I got really, extremely lucky with Piglet. However, I wouldn't buy from a Petco or Petsmart nowadays. I have actually had to stop going to those places because it broke my heart and I know if I buy one, thinking I am saving it, they will bring in 10 more. Most times, these snakes are older than we would believe because they are underfed, sick or have parasites. Now that I have my collection, which includes many snakes from great breeders I have met on here, I would never bring a bigbox store snake into my house.

For future references, I would seek buying one from breeders on here. Just always make sure you check the BOI before you make your purchase.
