So how do you guys talk your significant others into letting you get more snakes? I got "Sixx" (amel motley) 3 weeks ago and already want more but the gf put her foot down. Haha...she told me to wait a year until I'm done with school and in my own place. I was like "yes mother". I really just wanted to vent but any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

ps. She hates snakes and wont get within 5 feet of him if hes out of the viv. So this could get ugly...
 
she said you had to wait til you got your own place, and wait a year.. she's not technically telling you no, just wait so thats good.. as for her getting close to them, dont push it on her.. she should get more used to them. im not sure how to convince her otherwise.. but i guess do you have the room and money to provide adequate living spaace for a second corn?

just take your time with it I know a certain snake owner here who's wife said no to every snake he got now he has em in racks haha 20+ i belive haha.
 
Take her to a show. *works everytime for me*
Then she can "pick one out". Then just guide her to what you want secretly and "recommend" that one.

Well I don't think SO's should tell you what to do. On the other hand you should be able to talk this over reasons she feels this way. Then there is your referance to her "THE GF" not my GF sounds a little rough to me.
 
I think your best bet is just give her a little time to get used to the one you have then look at getting more.

No...thats like THE one and only gf for me! Haha...so you guys dont think I'm running a polygamist compound over here in Ohio :)
 
im in ohio too.. haha.. yeah personally that is what is keeping me from a king snake, a brazilian rainbow boa, and more corns, is money and space.. lol

HUH! isn't there only one Ohio State University:crazy02:, now if you said The OSU, I would answer go Beavers (no Ducks in this house). Maybe it's my age but if hubby said THE wife I would ask whose wife are you talking about.
 
hahahaha.. ok well since your not a die hard michigan fan which has lost the last 4 years i think, i wont hold it against you.
 
Maybe this is why I am single, but I can't imagine anyone telling me I couldn't get any animal, or cut my hair, or buy electronics, or go on vacation- whatever!

I even had a pretty good deal when I was a kid- I could keep any animal as long as it was out in the back porch. Well, I could have turtles and lizards and my parrot in the house...

Yeah Zach, it was NO all the time, then she finally saw I love having
them and quit saying anything.
She did kind of look at me funny when I brought the BP home though.. LOL

And at the moment.... it's 28, but....... trying to breed the Corns now.. So..?

So to the OP, hang in there, it takes time but it works.. LOL
(of course We've been married for 16+ yrs)
 
mine says NO all the time too, then ends up agreeing to one, and lets see i've got 8 in the house and 3 more waiting to be picked up, some how when he agrees to one it multiplies 1=6, 1=3, i'm cut off again now...... til i sell a few non breeders...... or til the show,

of course my very first snake was a male MBK and he was mine for oh 30 seconds, we didn't even pay for him before i lost him.
he has since claimed 1 of the 6 i picked up in the fall.
