Well, tonight was an interesting night. My 5 year old daughter absolutely loves the snakes and was asking if she could hold one of them like she does everyday. We went to take out her albino desert king but she was darting all over the place and didn't seem to want to be handled. So I figured the next best thing would be Houdini, my escape artist of an albino desert king. I took him out of the tub.. handed him to her. She had her hands flat and he curled up in her palms, seeming ok. I turned my back for a *second*, literally and heard a scream. I turned around and there was Houdini latched on to her pointer finger. I still don't know why he did it as he's never showed any signs of aggression, but he would not let go for anything. He was attempting to coil the remainder of her finger also. Is it possible he thought her finger was a pinkie? (no pun intended) It took me a good minute to pry him off while my wife held his body to keep him from constricting. I feel terrible for a) my daughter getting bit and b) having to pry him like that. I really hope I didn't hurt him and that he suffers no permanent damage. My daughter is fine and I think it just scared her more than it hurt her. She bled a little and has some abrasions on the tip of her finger, but took it like a champ and is no worse for the wear. 2 minutes after it happened she wanted to hold our BP Angelo. I'm just glad she's not harboring any lingering fear of snakes now. I had to explain to her that even though they're all CB, they're still wild animals and that I've been tagged countless times, that this is something that is going to happen if you have snakes. Poor little girl... if it was me that was bit, I'd post the post-tag photos and have a good laugh about it but you always hate to see things happen to your little ones..
