Homo Motley With Belly Checkers??? HOW??

I figured it was just a case of misplaced e-mail into a spam folder or something. Considering all the e-mail sent daily through cyberspace, I'm surprised at the amount that actually makes it to where it's supposed to go...especially when you consider the alternative of snail mail...and don't get me started on them!

Was the ACR records more accurate about the snake's true genetics?

The snake was sold to me as a stripe. Looking at her parents in the registry, I discovered she has a normal-patterned parent, "ph" motley. I would have never known till I bred her and got mots, not stripes. At least now, thanks to the additional information, I can decide to breed motleys, or just not breed. That was _not_ my goal when I purchased the snake. I am not interested in motleys, except Miamis.

That's a shame that someone would stoop that low just for a sale. I'm questioning what is going on with an entire clutch just because of a few belly checks and a mystery snake. Because of that I am holding back the entire clutch temporarily. I would still sell them to an interested party but not without explaining the fine details of the situation. Just because I wouldn't want to put a person in the position your in.

It's a shame but reading what I have read about that party, it's not surprising. :nope:

Did the registry go back any further? Not to give excuses for that person, but the registry may be wrong. A normal ph motley could have proven out to actually be a normal het stripe and the records not changed. If your snake looks like a stripe, it probably is as there are distinguishable differences between stripes and pin-striped motleys. Yes, if you get a poorly striped stripe that has some cubed influence, it may look more like a motley, but if the striped pattern is a good one, I seriously doubt it's a motley. And what is the other parent? If it's a stripe, then you still have the gene, no matter what the other parent was, and your projects are still alive. You have the option to simply dispose of all the motley offspring and just keep the striped ones.

The other parent is an opal stripe. So I'd get half stripes.

Your other post in this thread was the deciding factor. You were and are right. I read the BOI and I have seen reps get ruined for less. Not that that is the only reason for my decision. I'm more concerned with giving incorrect information unintentionally, and putting someone in a position that could hurt any plans that they may have. I may sell these as strict pets or if the homo is obvious, as that and list their hets as poss hets. Too many variables in this case.

I think you should test breed this one and then make a determination as to what is going on. I think that is the only way to set your mind at ease. :shrugs:

I agree whole heartedly.. I have het monsters and possible het monsters that may or may not include this that and the other things in the mix.. Sometimes there can be suprises that I may not be aware of..

I understand fair well enough that sometimes errors can be made, all be it, not intential.. I would be PO'ed if I was in your position, but I think the shock value has sort of worn off of me in the last three years or so..
