Hooollooween Photo Contest?

The rules stated above sound pretty good to me. The only thing I see wrong is what you posted for prizes donated by us. You posted.............
1.0 Hypo het Anery & 0.1 Ghost (donated by Jay@PJCReptiles)
What I have to donate would be a 1.0 Anery het Hypo (not a Hypo het Anery) & 0.1 Ghost. I am sure it was just a "Hypo Typo"......lol. :grin01:
Jay

Sorry, if I confused you. I confuse my self all the time. LOL :)

Anyway, here is what I suggest...

CATEGORIES
  • Cornsnake
  • Digital "Photoshop" Cornsnake
  • Other Reptile
To add to these Jen said there would be an International category.

PRIZES

Live Prizes:
1.1 Ghosts (donated by GhosthouseCorns)
1.1 Motleys (donated by Bekers71)
1.1 Normals het Ghost (donated by MrsInsaneOne)
1.1 Hypos possible het Lavender (donated by MrsInsaneOne)
1.0 Hypo het Anery & 0.1 Ghost (donated by Jay@PJCReptiles)
Would be cool if someone would donate another pair so we can have 2 pairs of prize snakes per category
Got you covered. I am going to donate a female normal het blood mot and Jen is putting in a male normal het blood stripe. (I'm pretty sure that's what she said)

RULES
  • A maximum of two entries per category per contestant
  • Image size 600x450
  • Entry must be taken or created by the individual who submitted it
  • The winning photo will be determined by public voting
  • Entries are not restricted to the continental United States. However, live animal prizes can not be shipped overseas. An alternative price can be selected or the prize awarded to another contestant of the winners choice.
  • Entries must be submitted by 12:01AM EST October 27th, 2008 to a specific e-mail address
  • Voting polls will be posted by 12:01AM EST October 29th, 2008 and end on 12:01AM EST October 31st, 2008
  • Contestants under the age of 18 must have parental permission to enter and accept a live animal prize
If any of the above requirements are not met, an entry can and will be rejected.
I think you should add "winner pays shipping" just to be covered. Would it make it easier if only 1 photo were submitted per contestant?

Other than that, sounds great!

I think you missed a post by T & J Cornsnakes donating 1.1 hypo het lavenders

No, I didn't. A pair of Hypos possible het Lavender were donated and are already listed.

Added. But what about the prizes for it? Or are there none?

Confirm this (and let me know which Jen you're talking about) and I'll add it.

Sorry we missed that. I'm sure which ever pair you want to donate is fine. :)

A question has just been asked by a prize donating member--

"Can they still be allowed in the contest if they donated and prize?"

Can they still be allowed in the contest if they donated and prize?

I don't see why not. They aren't handling the rules or contest photos. :shrugs:

The other thing I was thinking about...To decide who gets what without any hard feelings...After winners are voted on, have the three 1st place contestants provide their birth dates and whichever one is closest to Halloween, gets first pick of the prizes and so on, so forth. Do this also for the 2nd and 3rd place contestants respectively. We did this at my baby shower and it worked out really well.

I apologize for not being here to help clear up some of the confusion... I had to get some work done on a project I've been working on.

I'm going to go through the thread and try to reply to anything that Beck hasn't already answered for me - she's been wonderful reading my mind. =) I'll have more free time now, and over the next couple of days, so it will be easier to make sure I can be reached.

That sounds like a really good way to make sure the prizes are handed out fairly.

This sounds like a great idea!! I'm going to be sure to enter as soon as it's all set up and the collector is ready to accept pictures! :0)

Just a thought but maybe there could be catagories like:

Funniest costume, scariest costume, cutest costume, most colorful..etc...? Maybe that would require a lot of prizes to be donated but it would definitely make the contest more interesting..

Well if there is anything I can do to help just let me know..Oh and I do have a small log hide to donate as a prize as well :0)

picture is just a reference pic:

I think the person who wins and received the most total votes should get first choice. The winner with the least total votes gets last choice. That way, the voters decide who gets first choice, and it isn't decided upon some arbitrary date-matching formula.

That's getting way too many categories. I think we're good with 3 (4 including international) categories. You have to remember it's already the 6th of October, and if submissions end on October 27th, that leaves only 21 days for people to come up with ideas, take their photos and submit them.

And what happens if their is a tie on vote count?
I'm not a fan of this idea.

Then their would be a name drawing. Or just do it like that from the get go. No one should get pushed back in line just cause of their B-day.
Oh, by the way, I´m in Europe so I would not be getting any snake wins anyway so thats not what i´m basing my statement on.:p

A name drawing could cause hard feelings because it wouldn't be anonymous, that is why I am looking for other solutions. No one would be "pushed back in line" because of their birth date...However it wouldn't really be "fair" to take all three categories and whomever has the highest votes gets first pick when each category would be voted on based on different criteria. The only way I could see that working and it being "fair" is having a 2nd poll to determine who gets first pick per prize level.

I really don't like the idea of picking prizes and putting them in order of 1st, 2nd, 3rd prize either. Different prizes hold different value to different people, you know?
