I was wondering how you generally surf here? Do you hit the New post button when you enter the site, or do you go only in the sections that interest you?

The reason I am asking is that I have a forum here and it seems that if I post something there, I often have less answer that if I post it, for example, in the photo gallery section. I don't want to make double thread either so I taught to ask you what do you do.

I have noticed the same thing, Caroline. I think a lot of people must just go to the sections that they are interested in. I typically use the new post link.

I go to places I am interested in, or am following a thread in.
When the latest post has an interesting thread name, I check that out also.
Also, when traffic is slow in the places I frquent, I browse through the rest of this site.
Duuno if this helped, or was supposed to, but whatever....

Chris

"New Posts" section first, and when I've exhausted that, or nothing looks interesting, I'll browse.

I don't know what happened??? I click on submit new thread and already 3 answers were there??? LOL
Maybe you've qualified for your very own "what the hell" thread. ;)

I go to the main page so I can see all the forum sections, and then I go through them usually in the order of Chit-Chat, Photos, Feeders, etc.... Then I just randomly look at new threads, and occasionally I will scan through some of the personal forums too, but sorry  , I have a tendency to overlook them. Not enough time in the day to look at all of CS.

I go to user CP to see any answers to posts I made, then create tabs, (Firefox), of those and then "New Posts" where I open tabs of all the posts that interest me. I then go through all the tabs deleting them after I read them or comment. Then I go back to "New Posts" and catch ones I missed or are new... endless circle I tell you... I wonder what it says I'm viewing when I have a dozen tabs open? I noticed replies appear faster on New Posts than CP though, as well as views....

I get notes to my email when ever there is a new answer in a thread that i have suscribed on and after looking at that I surf "new posts".

I use the New Posts button. In fact my main page settings has all the forums completely collapsed so I just see a bunch of burgundy bars. The only bar that is not collapsed is the "Currently active users". I don't know why, but I like knowing who else is here. If my New Post search doesn't turn up anything interesting and I am particularly bored, I will spy and see what everyone else is looking at. Often there is a post that I would have never opened on my own but after I see everyone else looking, I'll go to see what all the hullabaloo is about.
Ha ha! Spellcheck corrected my "hullaballoo"!

I go to the genetics forum, read anything new there, then to the photo gallery, look at anything there that might be interesting, and then use the "New Posts" to see what else is going on.

If there's something interesting in the Breeding/Egg forum, or Misc/Chit-chat or peoples' personal forums, I will read that.

I make a point of not reading any threads in the behavior, husbandry, feeding, health and those sections, unless they have gone past 20 posts. I think that several of my fellow forum readers, who seem to be seriously stressed by all of those topics, would benefit greatly from such a policy. ;)

Yeah, those guys need to find a different approach. I hope they heed your advice. ;) :grin01: :sidestep:

Hmmm, sounds so exhilarating! Gotta try it! Besides Tula can take over all the advice questions.

I click new posts first, then look for interesting titles. I don't really have a favorite section.
I don't mind reading the posts by new people asking for advice and I sometimes give advice, not all newbies know how to search and when I see nobody else has tried to help I will answer them. I guess I'm patient, lol.
Lately with the ridiculous deli cup debacle I've been wondering what kind of impression a new member would get of this site. I guess that kind of thing annoys me more than someone who is just trying to learn and asking some questions that might have already been asked before.

New Posts...

Where is this legendary New Posts button?
I am afraid I have never actually noticed one of these little buttons around the place...
