Always mostly awesome
I got wondering how many folks here are breeding this year and how many hatchlings you're all expecting. Please vote even if your answer is zero.

my self, I have two clutches. I don't expect anything but normals and amels. It's my first time breeding, I hope to learn something and make enough money to pay for my critters mice for the next year.

I voted 300+, we'll have around 300 corns plus ball python eggs (20-30), bearded dragon eggs (100+), and leopard geckos eggs (20+). It's going to be a busy summer.

You need to add just one more catagory...1000+ Totally insane breeder. That way, Rich can vote.

I had 74 eggs but I think I will end up with less hatchlings. I also have some garters that are gravid and who knows how many babies I will get!

We produced 212 eggs this year from 10 females. That number includes two double clutches that totaled 15 eggs. We had a couple clutches go bad during incubation and about 7 or 8 deformed hatchings that had to be culled out of the 212. We should be around 180 healthy hatchlings once the last two clutches hatch. We're pretty happy with the results this year.

This was my first year breeding and I only have four adults (graybands and sinaloan milksnakes). So far only my graybands have produced a clutch for me (11eggs). I am still hoping that I might get a clutch out of the Sinaloans yet this year.
All my corns are '06's so it will still be a few years before I am producing large numbers of babies!!

Well obviously I'm one of those with the zero eggs vote.
Just thought I'd post as much so you would who voted what.

Since I just got my babies and they are too young... I have zero eggs :( But give me a couple years! I'm working on it! :)

Too many to count...and pipping is only a few days away! In fact, my first king clutch started on me yesterday. Oh boy....here it comes....

with so many people breeding and corns producing so many hatchlings a year, do you think we should be worried about a saturated market? what happens when all the people who want corn snakes have one? Does anyone worry about this or are us people who are breeding a small enough minority that we don't need to worry about it?

We started out with 45, went down to 42, then back up to 45 and now we've lost another and will possibly loose a few more... but that is to be expected at times I suppose. Hatching for us is still a few weeks away though, so there's no telling how many babies we'll end up with. Next year will be a crazy year... over 100 at least...

I don't think over-saturation is going to be a problem - cornsnakes (and other snakes too) are an addicting hobby/pet and it seems that more and more people are picking up more then just one. Plus you have all of the fantastic morphs to consider too... That, and there are new generations of snake lovers growing up right now, so there will always be someone wanting a snake.

Hi, I hail from South Africa. Our current breeding season only arrives in October, but last year I had 78 eggs from 3 females with 72 hatchlings the result. 6 eggs were slugs.
1 female dropped 41 eggs, 1 female dropped 28 eggs and 1 female dropped 9 eggs but it was her first breeding season.

Ciao
