How many snakes did you buy in 2008?

How many snakes do you think you're gonna get in 2009?

How many snakes did you buy in 2008?
How many do you think you're gonna buy in 2009?
So my question is, how many do you think you're gonna buy in 2009?
If you're a big time breeder, this obviously doesn't apply to you.
Post how many you think you bought this year, don't go through and count, just shoot from the hip with a number, I'm curious.
Also, what was your major snake-related purchase in 2008?

I got 1 pastel BP.
2 snow hondos.
A black ratsnake. WT.
1 sunglow corn. (1 of 4 non-feeders, 3 didn't make it. By the time I got them they were pretty far gone.)
And that's it. I think I'm forgetting something, but that's most of it.
I worked out a bunch of trades with local breeders, but I managed to break even on them, and don't have any left to trade or sell.
My major snake-related purchase in 2008 was 2 racks, but they're already full. (An ARS 7030 and a freedom large reptile compact.)

***EDIT***
To clarify, the post option is to choose what you think you will end up buying in 2009. Please respond here with a guess on what you bought in 2008.
And your biggest snake-related purchase of 2008, whether it was a high dollar snake, a rack, a pile of thermostats, a retail display, a rodent rack, whatever.
I suspect this is going to be educational.

In 2008, I bought one who died as a hatchling from a terrible RI he was hiding. Then I got Fiamma over Christmas. She was an exchange though because the breeder has a huge heart. So I have 1 from 2008, and 6 from 2009 so far. I voted less then 10 but I might end up with more :)

I bought 30 in 2008 (27 corns, 2 BCI, and 1 ATB) and also kept 2 of my hatchlings. So far in 2009, I've purchased 3 kings (1 Cali and 2 Thayeri) and will have a few clutches (if all goes well). I'm not sure how many will be held back, I guess that'll be up to Murphy (come on Phantom mots!!!). Not planning on buying more as of yet, but who knows what I'll run into at a show or here on the forums....

i bought one- she was my first. almost bought a second one a few days ago. my wife said no (for the time being)!:(

I bought four corns, a friend gave me two kings, I'm babysitting two more corns, and I bought one boa. NOAH the BOA!!! Oops, and little El Wray snuck in at the end...

I have enough. I need my guys to grow up so I can breed just one or two clutches!

I bought 35 snakes in 2008, i voted for another 10-20 in 2009 but it will be at the low end of that.

You're 15, you bought 35 snakes in 2008?

I thought I was crazy, but it seems that I'm on the low side of normal for a forum member.

errr, yea. I kind of got a bit carried away.... but then I've never been accused of being normal anyway.

I bought 4 snakes in 08, and rescued one other. Four are corn snakes, and one is a creamsicle. Interestingly, to me, only one is female and all the others are male.

I plan on buying two more snakes in 09, we'll see how much self control I have. I am getting a king snake soon, and hopefully will be getting something with stripes before too long!

I bought/was given 13 new snakes in 2008, plus obviously my keepers from my own breeding.

I have four newbies coming this month, and a few more provisional reservations for clutches later in the year depending on how other peoples seasons go - but I think the majority of corn additions at least this year will be home-bred.

Let's see...

I got Festivus the sulphur (RIP) from Bayou in Feb.
I got BRenda the 05 bloodred from Dean in April.
I got Carmen the 05 caramel motley and Hydi the 05 hypo blood from Dean in August.
I got Babette the butter from Bayou in August.

And in November I was gifted with Beelzebub (sulpher) and Bijou (butter) by Rob and Louise Stevens and an anon person who just HAS to be a living angel....

Let me think...I have a few keepers from my own breedings. I think I got 26 corns, 2 milks and 3 boas. Or was is 28 corns? Hmmm..I just can't remember. :nope: This didn't increase my numbers though. I tend to sell what I don't need to fund what I do need. So it all balances out in the end and it's like getting free snakes. (If I keep telling my self that it sounds so much better. LOL)

Edit: I did buy a wholesale of 20 babies, but I don't count those considering I sell them.

I purchased six snakes in '08 and will HOPEFULLY be purchasing a Dumerils in '09!

A lot! I have three more being held at the breeders due to the cold weather here and a fourth major purchase in the works. Not to mention my holdbacks from last year's clutches. I also acquired some as relinquishes and others are in the colony as semi permanent loans from friends. The guys from Full Spectrum Exotics merged their corn collection with mine when we decided to partner up at shows. This added quite a few animals to the mix. The colony number is ever in flux. I have to learn to stay away from the sale ads. Walter Smith alone is going to put me in the poor house!:bird:
I'm sure there will be more that catch my eye in '09. After all I am still missing some genes...

I think I bought four cornsnakes in 2008.. my biggest year yet in 9 of owning snakes. Do holds count? I have a non/erratic feeder on hold with her breeder. I'm willing to pay extra for someone else to have the headache. The poor thing has a much better chance of making it with her than me.

In 2009, I really only plan on one or maybe two more... I'm out of tanks and desk space :)

Bought my first two snakes in 2008, and plan to buy 0-2 females this year - at most, I'd like to stick to two breedable pairs of corns, so I'm going to be superpicky about what I choose.

If the right Rosy boa comes along though, I'm sunk. :p No other major purchases, other than homes and equipment for the babies.

I had to say a few, I always think no more but that always turns into a few.
Last year I bought
Caramel mot female
Caramel stripe male
Normal banded female
The above 3 were insane herp show deals, the kind where you have to go get more money because the deal is too darn great to pass up!

And I also traded some snakes for
amel mot het caramel female
golddust motley male
a computer!
A place to crash for a show!!
Snakes are as good as money LOL
