How Was Your Day?

STILL no baby George? Wow, hope your mom is doing alright, I'm sure it's not easy on any of you. Can't wait to hear bout your new little brother!

Hehe, only about 3 more days before they will set her off anyways, but i can tell she is getting weak lol, shes not sleeping hardly, pregnancy must be really hard :/ well for some people anyways :p

Yep, I can totally understand where she's coming from. It's been many years but I still remember what it felt like being at the end of my pregnancies. I'm sure everything will go well and you will have a very happy, healthy brother in not time soon!

Because I'm on nightshifts, last night was my 'day' and it was brilliant!
First off, the fostersnake ate for the 4th time by herself, so she's going home to her owner this weekend
Then, at work, there was the sad story of an elderly lady who's had a massive heart attack, and was expected to die during the night. Our instructions were to keep her comfortable and call her family if she started to deteriorate. Instead of which.....................I found her fully dressed with her handbag over her arm, asking if she could go home now! Slightly confused (which is apparently normal for her), but instead of having to oversee her last hours I was sitting giving her a cup of tea and listening to her chattering away at 4 this morning! :)

Oh I love when things turn out nicely!

Today there is no school in Chicago: it's Pulaski Day! I think that it's in celebration of the first mayor of Chicago, Mr. Pulaski. :) And, as there are more Polish people in Chicago than in Warsaw, we must give credit where credit is due...

However, Pulaski Day is not nearly as great as Boston's two fluff holidays: Patriot's Day & Evacuation Day -- those two coincide with the Boston Marathon & St Patrick's Day! At least the whole city gets to have a day off for a seriously good fun time! :) (I loved living in Boston...:) ) You gotta love a city that gives you permission to go out & party...:) (And get paid for it, too!)

So, today I moved around some tanks -- my beardie got her upgrade to her 40-gallon breeder (she's flipping out in it, right now...great kitty TV for my felines!) & the snakes are getting moved to new locations to make space...and then it's off to grade papers for school tomorrow. We're having a "walk-through" of supposedly important people who really only care about what kind of crap I put up on the walls, so I need to find all of the really good papers that my kids have done & put them up first-thing in the morning. :p Otherwise, I'm just reading, lazing, cuddling with the kitties & watching the guppies...:)

Today I have been messed about by:

- Work. Have had had three line managers in a week; overheard the last-but-one manager telling the new guy that we won't be getting a pay rise this year (didn't get one last year or the year before that either). Gits.

- Solicitors. Quoted me for work that I didn't ask them to do; added £400+£70+£12 to make £494; decided that they don't need my ex-partner to prove his identity (on the upside, I could just drag a tramp in off the street and give him a tenner to say what I wanted); spelled my name wrong on the legal stuff. Plonkers.

- Uni. All I wanted to know was whether they'd let me do exams on a Uni-supplied word processor because my permanently dislocated thumb makes handwriting very difficult. They've gone off on some wild disability rights rant and are trying to make me apply for all sorts of government grants that a) I don't need and b) I won't get. Twonks.

I feel :flames: Grrrrr!

Still, at least I'm not long-term pregnant - my sympathies!

My day was a bit more boring than usual: ISAT (Illinois Standards Achievement Test) prep day! Oh what fun. My district is one of few in the area that does NOT let out for Pulaski day. We celebrate it by attending.

Back to prepping...

My day was fine, but my hand is very sore - I had an accident with a kitchen knife yesterday :sidestep: Let's just say I have been playing with dressings and medical supplies ever since!

oh geez! Hope it heals up fast!

My day was excellent. I aced a job interview at the Rec Center, and providing my references pan out (which they should) I'm going to be a little less of a poor starving student..... three cheers for lifeguard union pay, no minimum wage for me!!

PLUS, because it's about half an hour out of town, I get my parent's (very)old car for the summer, and potentially longer, depending on how much it costs to run. EXTRA BONUS POINTS.

I just had a great day!

I'm in Aspen, Colorado for some skiing over vacation. I took a lesson today and only one other guy showed up. We spent lots of time on mogals, bumps, whatever you call them, but most of the time we cruised around looking for jumps. We had some nice new snow today, and it looks like we're getting even more for our trip up to the Highlands Bowl, a great set of very difficult runs that you have to hike to.

The only bad thing was that my grandfather decided to invite yet another person over tonight, so one of our two days off this week has just been replaced with another dinner party. I wouldn't mind normally, but after skiing all day I'd like to relax, and seeing my family for once wold be nice too.

I just got formally offered the job. It's mine.

I am ridiculously excited, because now that I will have a steady income, I can start planning the trip to Thailand I'm taking text year.

SO. EXCITED. GUYS. OKAY.

On the other hand, I just discovered that my, uh,
best-friend's-boyfriend
slash
boyfriend's-best-friend
(yes, he is both) might move back to the states next year.

I'm a little upset about this, I'll miss him, and I'm sure my best friend and boyfriend will too. (lol)
