Hurricane CHARLEY damage

Here is my frontyard. The white debris is part of my rodent building that at one time was in the backyard. The tree you see was clipped from the reptile room roof flying over the house roof clipping both trees and landing in the street.

Scarry scarry stuff, thanks for sharing. Good luck, I am sure it's gonna be tough. You and all our Florida members are in our thoughts.

My goodness.. I am surpriced you are so cool about it. I would be devestated. Is your insurance paying for damaged caused by forces of nature? I hope you will get out of this mess soon.

wow.....
those pictures are pretty scarey if you ask me

good thing that you're at least all right.

Hope that you'll be able to find all your missing snakes soon~

Wow! That's really upsetting just to think of all those missing snakes from your collection.

Those pics are very sad. I am sorry you went thrugh this devastating event, and I admire the way you seem to be taking it in stride. I hope you are able to rebuild and get back what you lost.

stephen

stephen i'm really sorry for your loss . i also live in fl. hurricane season was a yr. from hell for all of us here in the sunshine state. next year is going to be just as bad if not worse i have the feeling. they say we are in a cycle. can i ask has fema or your insurance covered any costs due to reptile and rodent loss? also for next season is there maybe some advice for the rest of us that may be helpful to prevent loss. though i know we're dealing with mother nature here. are you planning to replenish your reptile and rodent loss? best to you gail

Move?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. =P

Having lived all of my life in one temperate climate or another, I can't imagine why people endure it year after year. I didn't like Florida enough when I just visited it. I like snow and cold weather...call me weird. ;)

For a corn snake business, I guess it makes sense. You don't have to spend money keeping things warm during the winter. But still...you're spending one way or another if you think about it. Whether you pay for heating bills in the winter, or pay for rebuilding your house or portions of your property every year. :shrugs:

Oh nooooo..... I honestly have no idea what to say here. I'm a wee bit speechless. What an awful situation to have to live through. The pic of your snake room made me well up a bit, but then the "Hell" sign literally made me LOL.

It's good to see you can keep your spirits up through all this mess.

Keep smiling, Stephen! :)

it's not an every yr thing

we had a bad yr . but we go from yr to yr down here just like folks go from yr. to yr. with snow storms and caved in roofs and auto collisions in the snow and frozen damaged water pipes it's all the same . next yr. a hurricane could come through again but be just 30 miles north or south of stephen and bring no damage . you just never know hell people in tenn. get hurricanes and snow nah i'll take sunshine and hurricanes . it all sucks really lol gail

The wife and I drove through the Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte areas when we were on our mini vacation last week. We drove down route 41 and many buildings were still damaged and most roofs were covered with blue tarps. Some buildings were completely destroyed. Trees were snapped in half like they were twigs. It looked like a war zone and this is 3 MONTHS after the storm came through. So I can only imagine what it all looked like right after the storm.

Now comes the permanent damage: insurance rate hikes.....

Yeah, but how many people are going to be willing to pay 10 percent of their home's value every year for home insurance? They can MAKE us let them bail out by being too expensive to have.

anyway you look at it ....

we the homeowner gets screwed and don't even enjoy it . they get there money one way or another we can't afford to go w/o home owners so we pay the price. rich get richer poor get poorer. gail
