I don't like spiders or snakes?

Well, that's a lie, I like snakes a lot!
As far as spiders go, well, not so much.
I found a big one in my bushes today. Here's a few photos. Sorry I couldn't find the tripod, so they are a bit out of focus.

I suspect it is a cross orb weaver. I have a bunch in my yard. I had 2 large females living in a tree outside my front door that I named Henrietta and Beatrice. Unfortunately Henrietta has since disappeared. Beatrice is still making her web in the same spot though.

Here is Henrietta.

And another one living in a different tree that has also gone elsewhere.

You named them?!?!?!!? :eek1: :eek1:

I'm terrified of spiders. I love snakes, but spiders (bugs/insects in general) are my bane. I admire those who do like them, though, it just isn't for me! :nope:

I got bit by one of those when I was a kid, luckily I shook it off before it could break the skin. But, that's what I get for trying to pull it out of its web...lol. They are pretty cool.

If I ever see a documentary on spiders, lets say on the discovery channel, I keep on thinking they are under my chair. I'm ok with tarantulas (at a distance) but not with those skinny ones with the huge abdomens that jump from a mile away and get you. Haha, I'm exaggerating

I, also, have a bit of fear of spiders but am trying to overcome it. They are still not allowed within my house and if one manages to find a way in (along with any other bug) they don't find themselves living much longer. However, outside they are good for insect control, etc... So as long as they stay outside they are fine with me. I find that naming them, finding out more about their species, seeing them build their web now and then, I know their little hiding spots in the tree, etc... helps me to become less afraid of them and understand them more. I have even touched them now (more like a poke and pull away really fast!). I am less scared of the species I know and understand than the ones I have no clue what they are.

I love all of man feared creatures! I remeber seeing a show for get what it was but this woman worked with lion, tigers, and bears oh my! But scared to death of mice, spiders, and snakes? I just don't get it confuses me.

I don't like spiders, but the Orb Weavers don't bother me, much. By the time that the cold kills them off in late Autumn, I'm actually sad to see them go. They're interesting, for sure!

Anything else, though? No thanks!

Spiders fascinate me, but also scare the you know what out of me. Down here the only ones I ever seem to come across are black widows, brown recluses, and wolf's. And not only are the wolf's big down here, but aggressive! I'll try plucking a GTP in blue off it's perch before I go near a wolf...and they seem to know it, cuz they come right at you!
