Graphic content in link.
This officer, Tarek Hassani, was also involved in another shooting of a human in which he was cleared (which sounded justified). I called and told them this is deplorable behavior. Please feel free to do the same. It's a town of 1,300 people so the more outrage the better. No offense to any LEO'S on this site, but I'd hope you'd agree this was an unwarranted shoot.

Been going around on FB all day. Unfortunately, this kind of thing doesn't surprise me too much from an Idaho police officer. There are a few good ones around the state but most I've encountered or heard of, make the Keystone Cops look massively competent!

If it was a dog call wonder why he did not have a non-lethal method ready. Like the spray postmen carry. Or turn on siren and have owner come out and restrain the dogs. It almost seemed like he was looking for a reason to shoot the dog. :nope:

I guess it's a good thing we drove right through Idaho on the road trip this summer. :p

So, police officers are given bullet-proof vests, high-tech guns and bad-ass cars, and they don't have another 'means' to subdue a dog?.. that is truly scary.

Part of me is a little angry at the owners, simply for having their dogs run free, off-leash, unsupervised-especially if they bark aggressively at strangers. I mean, what if those dogs knock someone off of a bike or bites a child?.. it's just not responsible.

That said, this cop is just a filthy example of a 'law enforcement' officer. I would be so devestated by something like this, it would be like losing a family member. And that cop just shot the dog like it was protocol.

Ugh...Idaho cops shoot first and ask questions later. The good ol' boys in blue shot and killed several dogs last year...one was a mom of 2 week old puppies. They are complete cowards and don't even TRY to use non-lethal methods...it really sickens me and enrages me at the same time. Breaks my heart, and makes me worry about my own dogs. They are ALWAYS under my control, never outside without a leash but...what if? I am glad to say I'm not FROM here...just have the misfortune of living here...

I am mildly surprised that this has gained national attention. Not bad surprised...just wonder why THIS one and not the others? I wish they would figure out a way to teach these guys the differences in dog behavior...happy tail wagging vs fear vs straight up aggression...
