La Posta in Mesilla has a toucan, but don't know what was involved for them to get it... One of their newer birds too. NMDGF has an importation list that would answer where that birdie falls legally
 
Yea, both outcast and I have the list. I am just too lazy to look at it LOL

I could ask my friend that is the manager of the bird room at Clarks. He would know what is legal in New Mexico.

Very interesting. I occasionally see people listing baby spider monkeys on my local Craigslist and I've been wondering about the legality of them, too.
 
Our local CL had a listing for a tapir (I believe that was what it was, if I'm remembering right) for re-homing. Couldn't tell if the poster was serious or joking.
 
A few weeks ago someone listed a squirrel monkey for adoption. I believe that they were in Texas, because I am pretty sure that non-human primates are not allowed as pets in NM... It has been a while since I looked at the list though, and I cannot find my copy. Need to go get another...LOL
