(well, technically its Pam's snake ;) )

Pam and I just picked him up this morning from Susan Sentman (Ssnakes). She has been holding him for us for a while now and today we finally had the money to pick him up.

To start out on the right foot, we got into her snake room to only discover he had escaped his tub! She had accidentaly left it open last night.. oops! We eventually found him wrapped around a couple cables behind one of the nearby racks. He was soooo MAD at us! He was striking at us, and was NOT pleased! YAY, we got a feisty BP! :D

He was angry for quite a while, but after he settled down a bit, I was finally able to get some decent pics. Also, we suspect he may be in blue.

He is just wayyy too cool. We are very excited :) . He has been eating live rat pups, hopefully I can get him switched to f/t relatively quickly. I still need to work on the temps in his tank, but I am short a thermostat so have hooked up his tank to one of my rack thermostats but it still isnt getting warm enough. So for now, he is hanging out in my hatchling rack.

Could this be the start of another addiction? I sure hope not! (and neither does Pam LOL)
 
He's beautiful!! Bacon was like that when he escaped- very angry at being recaptured.
 
He's beautiful! He looks a lot like mine. He's also bigger than she is! Do you have a weight on him so far?

I definitely think his being feisty will help you out when converting him to f/t. Also, make sure you get long tongs! They depend on their heat pits to "see" the food (as I'm sure you know already) so if your body heat is anywhere near their food, they won't be able to detect it as easily. And as far as i've seen, their striking isn't nearly as good as some colubrids. I've learned all of these firsthand. LOL

Thanks, Suzy! That is why I was glad he had a 'tude, I am hoping this will help his feeding conversion. Oh, and I do have long tongs. I have a couple corns who grab and constrict so fast it makes your head spin!

He is a good sized '09. He weighed 69g at hatch (July) and weighs 202g now. Wow lol!
 
WOW! He is so pretty! Spiders are truly lovely BPs. Switching to F/T for balls is a matter of letting them "find" a super nice hot rat pup. I got both of my hardest cookies to crack by "walking" the hot rat pup into or right beside a cave entrance. PM me if you want more hints. Not that I am an expert...but I have switched over 3 BPs this way.

I would imagine that would help. LOL - I know what you mean, though. I've never really needed tongs until the BP.

Wow! He is a good sized snake. I thought mine (at 94) was good sized. LOL

I know so little about them, but he looks very healthy, and I am confidant he couldn't have found a better home.
