Is my baby corn snake sick?

Sunday will be 2 weeks that I got a new baby corn snake. I fed it Tuesday (frozen thawed) pinkie & it seemed to do well. Tonight he actually looks swollen from 1/4 all the way down to 3/4 of his body. It has already pooped a little today, but he doesn't look like any other snakes I've had before a few days after eating. Wednesday through Friday he looked normal. You could tell where the food was, but now it's big in most of it's body & appears to be contracting as if to be straining or in pain. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Never mind...my corn snake baby just died...I'm telling y'all through tears. I am so upset. I really loved him. I had never gotten a baby one before & I fell in love with him immediately. I'm totally brokenhearted...

I'm so sorry. That swelling up kinda sounds like maybe something obstructed his gastrointestinal tract so he couldn't digest the pinky. Had he been eating OK before you got him?

I am so sorry. Some just were never meant to make it, you did a great job keeping your eye on things. (((hugs)))

I am sorry for your loss... <3 Problem with reptiles is that they will never really show if something is wrong almost always until it is too late.. There was nothing you could have done different... That's the tough part with them...

Oh no! I'm so sorry. There is nothing you could have done, and no way to have predicted that if it was his first meal with you.

Thanks everyone. Deep down I know there's nothing I could've done differently, but I just love my animals so much & take it really hard when something happens even if I've had them for a very short time. I'll eventually get another one, because I do live animals of all kind, but not sure when. Good luck with all of y'all's reptiles & such. I'll stay connected. I love reading about corn snakes & other pets. Thanks again

Hi, I've had my corn snake for about 1 year. I have just checked on him, and he is pale like chalk, moving very little, has no appetite, and is lifting his head up high and bending it backwards. He has never ever acted this way before, I'm not sure what could be wrong with him. His tank temperature is set at the perfect temperature. Does anyone know what could be wrong?? Please help i am very worried as I love this snake dearly

Tamara, I'm so sorry this is happening. I recommend calling a reptile veterinarian right away.

After you do that, post this again as a new thread and let us know what happens. Best wishes to you and your snake.

CandyCorn, I'm so sorry for your loss. Sometimes they're just not right inside, and no one can predict that. Take some time and look around a bit. If you check out snakes about 17-20 inches, they're still little and adorable, but they've gotten more meals into them and are a bit more hardy than the 12 inchers. There are a lot of bigger ones coming up for sale on this site, from 2014's right up to full adults. Good luck and take care.
