Kennedy dies... The end of an era.......

Ever wanted to say something, but didn't want to be around when the "stuff hits the fan"?

I'm there right now... LOL. :D

Sincerely, out of respect for his grieving friends and family, I'll NOT post it.

Every day Fred.. Every stinking day.. *lol*

I must spread rep before giving it to you again!

Regards.. Tim of T and J

I've given out too much rep in the past 24 hours...

Funny thing is, I was gonna post almost the SAME EXACT THING on two different threads... but figured... WTH for??? :)

I like the last two paragraphs of that article, because it really exposes the bias of the main street media;

Still more troubling, perhaps, is the question asked recently by James Kirchick at Commentary Magazine: Did a sitting senator violate the Logan Act, the 1799 law that prohibits "any citizen" of the U.S. from meddling in American foreign policy on behalf of a foreign power?

The mainstream media could have at least asked these questions. That they didn't only adds to a long, shameful history of partisanship that has skewed the news for more than a generation — and left the nation worse off for it.

Not really a big surprise, though. :shrugs:

That's why I've always put [bad] preachers, politicians, and used car salesmen in the same category. :D
....and the media in a category even lower in the food chain than that.

Wow, thats a piece of work and no mistake.....
I'm just glad I live in a country with honest politicians... One's I can trust.

I found an old handout to re-elect Kennedy at a flea market recently, so I bought it for like a buck hoping it would be some kind of collectible. Who knows, but I thought it was really neat, and it was in almost perfect condition for pocket change, so I figured it was worth getting. Back to your regularly scheduled program!

Heck, in Louisiana, a flyer for a deceased politician might have been for the next term. We aren't above having a deceased man win an election. We've had more votes come from a princinct in the past than there were residents (without the election getting overthrown afterwards), so nothing surprises me. I'm suprised Old Uncle Eddie (don't get offended, Micheal - that's what he was called even before you were even born) didn't win last election even though he was still in jail at the time. Heck, I'd likely vote for him again if he got out of jail and ran next time around......lol.

At least you knew the direction Uncle Eddie was crooked in! He was an honest politician: he STAYED bought once he accepted a bribe!

I'll be honest, I don't know much about Edward Kennedy. I just saw this very old flier and thought it was worth getting, regardless of any personal feelings towards him. It was at the table of an old man, who had many, many old books, and it was in almost perfect condition. I have no idea if it's valuable, it may just be worth what I paid, like fifty cents. I just thought it was kind of a neat find among all of the old literature, and figured it was worth saving, and possibly hanging on to.
Some of it was interesting to read though. There were promises to shoe factory laborers, etc... And it seemed to reflect a long gone era, which I found captivating.

i know this is a little off topic, but i am going to post it in every political thread i am actively reading.

Thomas Jefferson said:
We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debt, as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our calling and our creeds...[we will] have no time to think, no means of calling our miss-managers to account but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers... And this is the tendency of all human governments. A departure from principle in one instance becomes a precedent for[ another]... till the bulk of society is reduced to be mere automatons of misery... And the fore-horse of this frightful team is public debt. Taxation follows that, and in its train wretchedness and oppression.

Thomas Jefferson said:
Yes, we did produce a near-perfect republic. But will they keep it? Or will they, in the enjoyment of plenty, lose the memory of freedom? Material abundance without character is the path of destruction.

Thomas Jefferson said:
It is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself.

Thomas Jefferson said:
The people cannot be all, & always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. We have had 13. states independent 11. years. There has been one rebellion. That comes to one rebellion in a century & a half for each state. What country before ever existed a century & half without a rebellion? & what country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. It is it's natural manure

I'll be honest, I don't know much about Edward Kennedy.

I was talking about Eddie Edwards (not Kennedy - sorry). Famous Louisiana governor many times over. Went to jail a few years ago (early part of this decade) for taking bribes for who was allowed a casino license in the state. He was 70 or so, and his wife was like 40 years younger than him. Her name really was Candy.....lol. He served four terms - twice what any other has done.

Candy Picou-Edwards has since divorced Uncle Eddie (while he was in prison), and got pregnant for a guy much younger than her. I wonder if Uncle Eddie is bothered that he is a divorced 80-year old and his wife is now a cougar? LOL.
