Kennedy dies... The end of an era.......

Yep. JFK's policies then are pretty Republican now.

By beat down, do you mean like the poor pregnant lover he drowned instead of helping? Is that the emblem Democrats REALLY want to use as their model? Hmmmmmm. Maybe. Abortion isn't enough. Killing babies that survive abortion isn't even enough. Drowning (or even just LETTING) the mom drown may finally be enough for this party, eh?

I mean his years in the Senate not whatever happened that day. Oh yeah I forgot, you knew that too.

R.I.P! I'm not sure how someone can suggest revoking others ability to vote, especially to criticize a whole states ability to rationalize. Clearly he made the majority feel good about electing him, and then reelecting, that's just America.
I won't start a political debate here, but it doesn't get much more communist than revoking people's right to vote for whom they choose. Socialism is an issue, but deciding who people vote for isn't? I also don't like when people cast their judgments following a persons death. It happened with Michael Jackson too, and I just find it to be in poor taste.
He was a human being that died in an unfortunate circumstance. This is the time where people should set aside political differences to say R.I.P, and not add insult to injury.

Don't get me wrong, Tom... I respect a lot that JFK did... but "JFK's Democrat" and "Ted's Democrat" while they may have started in the same place, are WAAAYYYYY different from each other.

When JFK was a Democrat, they were Democrats! Not this Liberal/Socialist thing that is hiding under the "Democrat" Rock!

I have one word...Chappaquiddick. My mother always felt there was more to what was reported and that he got away with murder.

Even if it was nothing more than him being too drunk or too cowardly to save her, and then wander (sleep, take a shower, sober up) around the island for almost a day.

I agree .
I agree.

Sorry Mike,,I never liked him.....at all....

Being the brother of an assassinated president currys alot of favor. For instance, you can not only get away with murder, but you also get a cover up AND an illustrious political career for free!! (wheras most of us poor saps would be doing hard time...)

However, I hope that wherever he is, Teddy has apoligized to Mary Jo (since he never did to her parents), and I hope that whatever he has done, or not done is forgiven by whatever higher power determines our destinies.
And I hope that they BOTH can rest in peace.....
Thank you Beth, couldn't have said it better, and won't try.

Mike you were posting this last night as I was reading it and feeding snakes. He was lauded much in US articles. I guess if you age and stay in the saddle, memory-loss-of-the-average-american-public is all the rage.
I frown on this, the media going gaagaa over "celebrity", and the insidious and rampant adultery among the Kennedy men. Infidelity and terror (IRA) do not a hero make. It does not give you a free pass, just because you're liberal to the eyebrows.

The last thing I'm going to do is argue his worth on the day that he died. I don't care who all can see it. (And I'm not angry, I really don't care).
I'm thankful we had him, and I just wanted to say my piece on what I thought was a thread for that.
No more argument from me. He don't need it.

Why is it that anyone that doesn't defend the left is automatically treated like a right wing extremist? Can anyone in America at all lean toward the right any little bit and NOT be grouped as an extremist? Does anyone else see something wrong with this?

Forget the girl he murdered - he still never deserved to serve the public in a free country.

And when Barry Goldwater was a Republican, they were Republicans! "Keep the Government out of my wallet AND my bedroom!", as he used to say. Not the deficit spending, Theocratic, let's-take-the-ignorant-for-suckers "neocon" that is beneath the "big-tent party" GOP slime.

William F. Buckley Jr. is probably at about 8000 rpm over what's been done in the name of "conservatism".

Conversely, why is it that anyone who rejects "Reagan Conservatism" considered a Socialist Hippie Commie Pinko Tree Huggin' Homoseckshul Abortionist?

Given the grid that tsst just posted, I rank as a "left-leaning centrist" - just shading to the left, but still well in the middle square....but somehow, supporting a public OPTION - which would inject COMPETITION into the marketplace - is thought to be adhering to "guvmint takeover" of everything.

The door swings both ways.

And I will never understand why the good misguided people of Massachusetts kept voting him in over and over and over.....

Or why the people in my own state (Rhode Island) keep voting in his son, who is a substance abuser and can't even string together a coherent sentence......

The reason is MONEY and POWER! Have enough of it and you can do ANYTHING, including get away with murder and spend the rest of your life as a U.S. Senator. The Kennedy family has both and that it has been proven time and again. I will not grieve at his passing and actually pray that no other member of that family has any political ambitions. Enough is enough.

exactly how i feel KJUN.
You must spread some more rep around before you can give more to KAJUN.

Although I always feel sorry for anyone who loses a beloved family member, I certainly wont miss him as a politician. Anytime I ever heard him speak, he always reminded me of what I dislike about politicians. Although I certainly don't remember everything he said or voted on, I also don't remember ever agreeing with him on anything.

I would have never, ever voted for him, but I would offer condolences to his family.

I knew the minute I saw this thread it was going to turn into controversy and liberal vs conservative BS just from the amount of replies. I'm starting to detest how everything has to turn into politics on this forum. I can't understand bashing people when they just passed away within a day of their death.

Persecution complex much?

Who is grouping all right leaners as extremists?

He'll be dearly missed. He really had a reputation in the Senate as a "behind the scenes" kind of guy who could work out compromises and broker deals between R's and D's. I have no doubt that kind of leadership will be void for sometime.

A sad day for America.

This thread didn't turn out the way I expected....
As a Brit I have my opinions, but, you guys have opened my eyes to your politics.
Thank you for giving me another angle on your out look.
The more we talk, the more I realise we are not so different.
PS.... My opinion does not reflect all of the UK..... Well I don't think so, anyway....
