Largest Corn?

Well, my Miami is only about 1.20 meters or 3 feet and 8 inch but his girth is unwise! I think he's close to 2 inch diameter, weighing about 1140 gram. Yet he doesn't look too fat to be healthy. His scales are hardly stretched, what would indicate obesity I've read.

I've been measuring him with a tailors tape hehe.. I hold, Mom measures =) Tip or nose to tip of tail at last measure was 52.33 inches last 3 is the only uncertain digit.

Not sure if I have a CD case... but I can check =) Dad may have one.

I am curious though, how have you measured your snake this far?

I'm interested to hear how the "6 footer" is being measured as well, considering 6' is the world record for corns, isn't it?

Well, I wouldn't call my Miami cute, just a lazy fatso :grin01:

I measure my snakes with a piece of cord. Just cut some of, start holding it at the head and then move like 2 inches, grabbing the corn with the cord, move 2 inches, grab it again with the cord and so on till tip of the tail. Then just measure that easy to handle piece of cord :) Work squite well, even with quite squirmy young corns. Just don't let the cord move up or down in relation to your snake. Further I just try to stretch them on one side of a viv to compare them roughly with a known length. When they seem to have grown significantly I start with a cord.

Beautiful corn! I love seeing the big ones. Small snakes (even though I have one) kinda creep me out for some reason, lol. I love big massive ones.... Cant even imagine my guy being 3 or 4 ft long.... Some day... lol!

This is my biggest, also the snake I've owned the longest time - a snow female w/ some kind of zig zag/aztec pattern. She posed nicely on top of her sterilite and seemed to like the CD for size comparison.

From what I've seen in snows they can be either. You can see all the different variations if you search the photos, its actually pretty neat :D

Sure thats a snow? My snow is really pink, not yellow (the markings I mean). Very nice snake you have :)
Thanks - She's definitely homozygous for both anery & amel based on the babies she's produced. I haven't tested her for any others, I think she could have something else going on :shrugs:

My snow started out really pink, but she's getting more yellow and white as she gets older.

he's huge girth wise...wow :eek1: very nice snake

I give props to serpwidgets measuring program as well.
Both of my hatchlings have grown 2 1/2 inches in 2 months. Is this an average growth rate?

Come on bring on this 6 footer!

Jen, Using the serpwidget measuring program, your snow measure 44.4" long.
OK thanks! Good to know. I am sort of out of the loop when it comes to 'snake software' as so many things won't work for the mac. I know there's a few programs such as virtual pc, softwindows, etc that let you 'cheat' but they also hog space and memory. My old machine is kinda maxed out... LOL maybe I should quit spending my $ on snakes, I've been wanting new 'puter for a while! Right now unless santa brings me one I'm pretty much stuck with what I got :)

Using that program I measured the amel I adopted; he's around 52-53 inches and weighs 666 grams.

How old is he Tracee? Treasure is only around a year hehe =) Eats the biggest mice I can find hehe. Last weeks was 30 g... this weeks is a "mega" mouse hehe.. 41 g squeaker! (costs $6.95 a week to feed him ~.~)
He's 6 years old, I've had him 5. He was just a tad bigger than 'normal sized' up until about a year ago (when he reched 4 foot, was still quite slender and I expected him to stop growing).

I would love to see the 6 footer too since I've heard this is the largest on record, so please post a picture!

I just wrenched my lad out his viv for a photo sesh, he wasn't too happy and the batteries in my camera died. GRRR. So unfortunately I've had to take pictures with my naff camera phone - will get to transferring and uploading and will post any good ones I might've mnaged to get.

Lordy, I am so sorry about the poor quality guys. Bad light really didn't help, I've increased the contrast so they're a bit better..

Of the ones I took (in the mirror or otherwise, lol) there's only one that I dare post full size. Apologies again for the awful quality, rechargeable batts for the proper camera have been ordered!!

Before anyone says, I am pretty little, but I'm not minute. I can just imagine someone telling me to post pictures of myself next to another item for 'scale' ;)

Behold the beast :eek1:
