Layne Labs sale

ACR Breeder # 787
Just an FYI post for people looking to purchase food for their up and coming babies.

Layne Labs is having a sale on all pinkies only.
I just placed my order, not sure how long the sale will last.

I can say that their rodents are great quality.

I was wondering about the quality of BHB's mice. I just got an order of mice a little while ago, so don't need any yet, but I was thinking about them simply because they're closer so hopefully the shipping would be less.

Oh yeah, I'd like to know too. It's always good to have more than 1 source AND if shipping with one is cheaper than the other.... well... what can ya do?

I've tried many of those, I don't like rodentpro and (I think) mice direct.
I stuck with LL due to their quality. BUT, I'm always willing to try something new.

I've tried all of them as well, with Mice Direct the first. They have went down hill big time in quality, then I moved onto RodentPro. To me, their product is pretty good, however they do broker mice, they don't vaccum seal and when they had "THAT" problem, they hardly ever had anything in stock. They seem to be back on track with stock now though. RodentPro also runs random "HOT DEALS". I recently got jumbo mice for $0.64 ea. Ya just never know when they are going to run their deals, so ya need to check their site periodically.

Then I found Big Cheese. 100% quality here. Vaccum sealed, sizes consistant and very clean, plus they sell only mice they produce themself, no brokering here.

I must admit, I've never tried Big Cheese and I think that's the one Nanci uses too (if I remember correctly).
I will have to frequent all of their sites to see the deals going on. It'd be nice to get some of my food stock cheaper.

I don't have a steady mouse source right now. I've never used Big Cheese. I do NOT like Mice Direct. Broken mice, broken bags. I like Gourmet Rodent okay, for local pick up, but they couldn't supply me during the shortage. I like Rodents on the Road- they have nice quality mice, but again, couldn't supply adults without a lot of advance warning. I've used South Florida Rodents the last two times, and the mice are clean, but weird- they all have funny humped backs- I wonder how they died- and the weights vary widely, which isn't necessarily bad, but I can't feed the 50 gram adults they sent. Plus the last time the hoppers were thawed but cold, and there was no dry ice in the box. Overnight, same state. I wasn't particularly satisfied by the answer I received when I inquired about that. I miss The Mouse Factory.

I have found a local source that I hope can supply adults, and found a source up in St. Augustine. I'm not finding 25 cent pinks anywhere local, though, unless it's in a large quantity.

Must have been someone else (obviously) that uses Big Cheese, for some reason I thought it was you Nanci.

Well, one thing I can say about Layne Labs is the sizes are right on and the quality of the mice is always great. They must do a good job of taking care of them in their facility (at least that's what I think every time I get a shipment from them).

Tara just for the record and a FYI,
this is the same with Big Cheese Rodent Factory. 100% quality all the way around.

I miss The Mouse.

I miss Edna's excellent customer service too. I've been shelling out over $55/wk to feed my snakes via petsmart and every freak'n time I've got money saved up something in life goes wrong. I tried rodentpro back in 99 and won't ever again, particularly now that i know they broker. I've used big cheese when i worked for a museum and didn't care for the strong smell of urine from the mice when they thawed. I keep clicking back to Layne Labs, but boy did i think the mouse factory was proud of their mice.

My last order of mice was from Professional Reptiles. I have always used Layne Labs because I like their quality and the shipping wasn't too bad for me. Professional Reptiles is a smaller company (an individual?) with great prices and very nice quality. Better than Layne Labs, actually - on both accounts. However, they do tend to have more limited stock, so if you're looking to make massive orders, you might have a problem there.

I've only ordered from Layne labs. I chose them because they offer rat pinks. We've gotten shipments in the middle of summer and they were always frozen solid.

I'll stick with Layne Labs. (To supplement what I produce on my own.)

Their quality is much better than Rodent Pro ever was, & while some suppliers may have a little lower prices, the savings in shipping costs to buy from just down the west coast, vs shipping across the country is worth it to me.

I just received my 6 month supply of frozen mice today. Used laynelabs.com and I am impressed with their service.
Their 2 day shipping was the cheapest around for me, The mice arrived packaged very well and had quite enough dry ice left over in there.
All the mice are individually frozen and have their legs curled so their claws wont accidentally hurt the snake.

Also with their animal bill of rights they treat the animals with care and dignity and humanely euth them using Co2.

I will be using them again in the future.

Now to set about individually vac packing these mice....
