Little Rant

I am completely ticked off right now. :angry01: I sent out a $245 money order to pay for a female srtiped tail Cay Caulker boa and the money order got there today. Well I got an emailed telling me they sold the snake 2 or 3 days ago. Why would you sell a snake you knew someone was sending you money for! I passed up a few offers on some really nice Cay Caulkers because I specifically wanted this one for it's striped tail now what do I do? He told me he will see if he has anymore but chances are I won't like them. Now I'm really pissed because I was so excited about getting it and he sold it. Now I know that some people who sell snakes it's a first come first serve, whoever gives them the money(in hand) first gets the animals even if you sent the money but they tell you that or have it in their terms. This guy did not so I'm extremely angry and if he doesn't have a Cay Caulker that I like he better give me my money back. :realhot: I emailed this guy 5 times in March saying I wanted to purchase this snake and he never replied so I feel really dumb for trusting this guy now, but I read up on him on BOI and he had good feedback so I went with it but look what happens when I don't trust my gut feelings.

I pitty any one who angers me anymore today, lol. :eatsmiley
Thanks for listening to my little rant, hopefully everything will work out.

I guess many here prefer PayPal because the money transfer is pretty much instant. You should really think about setting up a PayPal account if you are going to buy snakes online. Perhaps from the sellers point of view...he has heard "Cheques in the Mail" before and got burned himself....who knows?:shrugs:

I would do that but I don't have a credit card which is why I send money orders.

I use my atm debit card instead of a CC for paypal. Works great and I have not had a problem in over 7 years!

However you do have every right to be pissed! I am sorry to hear you lost the cutie you had your heart set on.

Paypal will also take out from your checking account as well. I did this for a pair of ATBs.

But seriously, it happens, is he sending it back to you or giving you something else in return?? What is the seller doing for you for sending the money order out to them?

But seriously, why get angry?? He probably thought you were one of those buyers that say they are going to buy but never do. It happens. He now knows that you are a truthful buyer and may put you on the top of the list next time but still get a paypal account, it will make things easier for you.

Did he specifically tell you he would hold it for a certain amount of time? When a customer tells me that they will definitely send a money order, I usually tell them I will hold it until a specific day, usually about one week. About half the time, the payment arrives, and almost half the time I never hear from them again. So then I just go ahead and sell it after that date. Sometimes they contact me a couple of weeks later, and might be surprised if I didn't continue to hold it after the agreed upon date. But that is the value of a definite agreement. If you didn't have a specific understanding with him, with a date, be sure to get that next time. You probably have no idea how many people say they are sending money, but just never get around to it.

I emailed him and told him I would take the male that was my second choice but he thinks that one was sold too. So he is going to check tomorrow and see what he has left.

He did apologize and does seem genuinely sorry. He said they were very busy packing for the show and they got a huge shipment of snakes the day before the show. I do understand things can be really hectic and things can get mixed up but if some one sending me money I'd make sure that snake didn't go so I am still pretty ticked the one I wanted was sold, but he does seem to be trying to make it better. If he didn't think I sent the money then he should have emailed me back and told me that the money didn't arrive. Oh well I'm just hoping he has another one that I'll take but I doubt he has anymore with stripe tails which is what I was really looking for.

He hasn't mentioned anything about returning my money if I don't like what he has, but I'm hoping he will.

Thanks Kathy, I do understand that a lot of people say okay I sent money out and then poof they are never heard from again but I stayrd in contact with him. I don't know I'm starting to calm down a bit but I'm still kind of mad.

Normally when I send a money order they do tell me it has to arrive within a week or they will not hold the animal and then I have bought from others where it has to be there in 2 days. My money order was sent out last Monday(27th) and either arrived last Saturday(2nd) or today(Monday 4th) all within a week but he sold it at the Raleigh reptile show before the week was up. He did not specify when it had to be there by and I read his terms and they did not say either.

I'm not happy about him selling the snake I wanted but as long as I get a snake of equal value or my money returned I'll be satisfied I guess.

Man...I'm sorry to hear this happened to you..I hope you find something else you like or at least get your money back..bad things just happen like this sometimes...and it really sucks when it happens to us.. :0(

You could always use paypal with a prepaid credit card. I know you can get them at walmart. You just put a certain amount on the card and use it like you would a regular credit card.
I'm really sorry that happened to you, but hopefully the sellers does have something your interested in or at the very least returns your money.

To be honest...sounds like just a lack of commutation,
and a life lesson learned.

Every time I emailed him it was very detailed but his replies were very short so I'm guessing he was just very busy that week because I've heard great things about him from other people.

Next time I'll make sure the person doesn't sell the animal before the money gets there. I use money orders because I don't have a debt or credit card so money orders are the only way for me and this is the first time I ever had a problem. As long as it gets worked out soon I won't hold it against him.

Thanks that's a good idea. I completely forgot about prepaid cards.

Well after a few emails, in which I was nice and did not get angry(which is good for me, lol) everything has worked out well. The guy looked through his inventory and found a male very similar in appearance to the female I originally wanted but was the runt of the litter(but is feeding well), he also had a normal female. I choose the male for the srtipe tail and he offered me $275 for the pair because he felt bad, so I'm getting a pair of Cay Caulker Boas for $275. I am still sad the original one was sold but the guy did a very nice job making up for it! I can't wait to get them.

Here are pictures of my soon to be babies.:D

I'm happy to hear everything worked out for you. I too would have been upset, but I guess unless pre-arrangements had been made in the beginning none of this would have happened.
Now it's your duty to keep us updated on these 2 your getting and give us lots of pics of them...lol

Honestly this seller sounds like a real good guy, honest! Two snakes for the price of one is a good way to make up what wasn't a real bad thing on his part.

I've been trying to sell some of my stuff over the past weeks and it is such a pain--people say they are interested, set dates to come look at the stuff and then don't show up. They string you along for weeks, until it gets to the point where you have to just go with the person who shows up to buy the item.

Glad to see it all worked out in the end. They do look like a nice pair. I think that's the snakes I saw for sale and contemplated getting one myself.

I was going to tell you if things didn't work out, demand your money back and send it to me as a deposit for a nice sunglow boa. :D:laugh: JK!

How I would like a sunglow boa too, lol.

The one I was supposed to get and my second choice were sold at a show so he had to dig up these two. I think because of the mix up and the fact this one is a male and was a runt he is giving me a great deal on the two.
