Lyra '10 Ghost Bloodred

She is gorgeous, the only one I kept just shed at the show yesterday and I am going to check her for that difference in the sides.
John

She is stunning. Is she a motley too?

You will have to ask John about that. I always am tempted to think that, but I don't think so. I think her pattern is just really cut off from all that diffusion! I don't wan't to think things are there that aren't. I think it would be kind of difficult to prove Motley out too, but that doesn't mean I can't try!

John, what do you think?

John, I bet she has it. I have the gift of a macro lens to pick up things like this. The 4 siblings looked so similar that I'm sure their diffusion is progressing pretty similarly.

I wonder if the black speckled part of her pattern is Diffusion and the white part is Pied, or if it's all just varying degrees of Diffusion.
I know this is a long shot, but I've seen pictures of the male who produced these, any chance you have baby pictures of him?

Thanks for the compliments, guys!! Every time I look at her I feel so lucky to have her in my collection.

Thanks for reminding me, I haven't gone back and looked at his baby pics. He looks like he had clean sides but the babies are even better. Here is the dad from when he was small and then when he was older and now.

Wow, he was so colorful when he was young!!

Thanks so much for posting those pictures, they are what I expected, but also more than what I expected!!! It's going to be so sweet to see what happens with these babies.

I wonder if the line will get more pronounced. I can definitely see it much more now than I could a shed ago. Judging from her father, it looks like she's going to do a LOT of changing!

I remember someone posting a picture of their white sided animal when he was in blue because it's easier to see which parts of the sides are pigmented, and which are actually white.

Here's Lyra in blue. What do you guys think?

Sure does look like it, I tried to get pics of my keeper but she doesn't have as clean of line like yours does. Did you want to trade?
Very nice
John

Wow John! They look so different from one another! I'll definitely be posting some more pictures when my girl sheds next. I really like how yours is turning out, she's so silvery! I think her sides are looking really cool as well. ;) I think I can make out some parts that are pure white and parts that are speckled, even though it is a little hard to see. Try looking at her when she is in deep blue.

You don't know how much I wish I could go over to your place and take pictures of your collection for you!! One thing you could do is point your camera on the snake's head, focus, then move to compose and get the whole animal in. That's one thing that usually works for me, but it also depends on how much the snake moves!

I hope next year you produce more GBRs like these and that one (or more) of them is male!
Actually I bought myself a really nice Granite male who I think is either het or ph Hypo. He's a looker, and if I end up pairing them when Lyra is ready, you will have first dibs!

That is the type of ghost blood I have been looking for! *runs off to PM John*

That's exactly what I thought when I saw that John had produced these!!

Well, I think I made up that ph Hypo part. This guy has no known hets, but also is a virgin, so who knows!

Anyway, I think he will make a nice mate for Lyra if I decide to breed her in the future. I'll be excited about the possibilities even if all that they make are Granites het Hypo. His sides look pretty good too.

He is not here yet, we are waiting for a good time to ship. Here are a few photos that Katie has taken of him.

Thanks! I think it's one of my favorites as well. The male Granite's name will be Iorek Byrnison when he gets here. ;D I was waiting for a white/grey snake to be my Iorek.

That's too cool! Haha I'm jealous already :-] I can't wait until I have room for more corns I have so many name ideas.

Oh yeah, how are you holding up from the surgery?

Its strange that you get white-sided in anery bloods but pied-sided in bloods. I imagine the genes are not compatible?

I don't think they are compatible but since I wanted to outcross the ghost bloods I was going to breed the female to my pied sided pos het hypo male just for kicks.

Seems like that would be a good pairing to prove them different genes.

Perhaps the white sided Anery based morphs are Pied Sided, but the diffusion just looks white instead of red. Over time I think white sided animal's sides do fill in with gray in some parts.
