Female Wiccan Heretic!!
I was out walking with my sister this morning down a creek trail by her place. We turned a sharp corner, and this little gal was in the middle of the trail catching some sunshine!

I picked her up and she musked me, but didn't bite and settled down after a minute of handling. I moved her away from the main trail to a spot where there's not a lot of foot traffic, so hopefully she stays out of trouble.

I'm still grinning like an idiot, what a fabulous way to kick off the day!
 
Thanks Bob! I've never found anything but fence lizards, alligator lizards and garter snakes out there before!
 
Okay, I'm going to be the newbie that asks what she is, because MY GOODNESS she's gorgeous!
I'm guessing a corn or rat snake, because of the head shape? But I am still very much a learner.
And, I WOULD have squealed with glee if I came across her!

She's a California Kingsnake. :) I knew we had them in my area but I've never come across one before.
