i got my wild corn everything was fine till my sister bf would come over...even from the first night i got my corn. without asking he undo the top and wigges his fingers so my snake bites him. im pissed off! i told my sister to tell him to stop but now its getting hard to pick up my snake in the tank. i dont blame my snake at all and after i get him he is super sweet. just now my sister bf did it and my snake him bit him 4 times. after he left the room i took out my snake.now his in my hand as i put this his fine.but how doi get him to stop biting at pickup time better yet how do i get my sister 6'3 all built up bf to please stop.

Im sorry to hear this. Snakes can be tricky enough without these kinds of pranks going on .That guy messing around like that is not respectful of you or the snake . I dont think the snake will have much long term memory anyway . Im sure when you go to pick him up, you go slowly and carefully. Its very important to make slow movements and to let the snake see you.Just continue your good habits. My corn snake was pretty skidish when young but over time has really mellowed out very much .Jokes a joke but that sisters boyfriend has to cut the crap and grow up.Good luck.

i do like that nice coral snake idea. my snake is really sweet i love him to bits and im sick of my sitters bf making my snake bite him.

Attach an inexpensive hasp and lock to the cage. If you can't attach it with screws, use some kind of super glue or silicone seal. Even a cheap lock should stop a child (of ANY age or size!) from playing with things he shouldn't. If you don't do that, he will for sure forget to completely close the cage one day and your snake will be gone.

Well I don't think he's a child, so I doubt he's going to be confouned by a lock.... :shrugs:

i was thinking about putting a lock on it. his 23 lol try to keeps his hands off my snake. i just dont want him to turn around to my sister and say "open the tank" becuse i will draw the line there.

Of course it then just occured to me that you could possibly mean a lock with like...a key and stuff. I'm braindead right now, sorry. Excellent idea!

I would put a lock on it. I had this problem in high school with my violin :sobstory: lol. I could tell someone from the freshman class was playing on it so I put a lock on the case :D. It works.

I would definitely call him a child if he thinks bullying a little corn snake is entertaining. Good luck!

I was being facetious. He sounds like a child to me, no matter what his age and size.

Even a cheap lock should stop an adult unless they are willing to break the cage.

I'm hoped up on migrain medication right now, and the subtlties of your post went riiight over my head untill I thought about it for awhile, sorry.

I would go with the lock and key idea, or maybe you could lock your room up (if the snake is there). Too bad you can't have venomous snakes cohabitate with your corn, then he'd have a body guard. :)

very true im going to get a lock, i think he was mad from the first day i told him im going to keep it asking me if he could have it. so i think his trying to make my snake bite me so i will give it too him..and guess what. his never getting my snake. now that its in a locked tank.

I guess I'm lucky, being 6foot 1 at 15 myself, not many people would try to get past me to Damien, Even then the built in lock would Stop them :grin01:

I suggest you stand up to him, "Some people may think this is a bad idea" But i would just say "Please will you leave my snake alone, he does not need to be annoyed and it may be causing him stress" If that don't work, Then tell your parents, maybe they will tell him, And NO1 messes with there Girlfriends Parents EVER!! :p

Good luck!

Glad you got the lock! I'm positive there won't be any permanent personality changes in your snake.

You'd think at 23 years old he could afford to buy one from a pet store if he wanted one so bad, not bully someone into giving him theirs.

I hope your lock works, don't give the combination to anyone!!

If it were me, I'd tell him in no uncertain terms the snake is NOT to be bothered unless you, yourself take it out of the cage. If he's not willing to abide by that rule then I'd resort to a lock if need be. But I have a male friend who comes over and looks at the snakes and wouldn't even think of taking any of them out without consulting me first. It's just a show of respect for the owner and the snake. I hope you will be able to eventually teach the "boy" some respect towards your property and animals.....Good Luck!

thank you. the other day he came over trying to take off the lock and i told him "no i dont want the snake to be touched" he was stuned at first that i said anything but them stoped and walked away. yay

Excellent! I'm glad he responded well to that.

Please keep in mind that it's almost always a good idea to involve an adult in a situation like this where an older guy is messing around with your personal property or anything like that if you aren't an adult (otherwise I'd say kick him off the property if he doesn't stop!). I'm glad he walked away this time; if he tries it again despite all that then I would really suggest you tell your parents that you feel like he's acting inappropriately and you are concerned for the well-being of your snake, as well as just the fact that he is not respecting your boundaries and rights over your personal stuff. Don't let him bully you, it doesn't have to be that way!

Coral snakes are good, but I'm not sure if they're aggressive, does anybody know? You could go for a green mamba or black mamba; they might be more jumpy. A pygmy rattler is always good too; they're pretty and tempting to pick up!

Or. You should totally rig the cage with an electric fence type of scheme where unless you turn it off, when someone touches the lock it zaps them. Works on dogs, should work on this disrespectful creature.

Or! ..... never mind, I should stop now.

Oh. And btw, every girl deserves a man that is respectful, strong of character, selfless, genuine, and mature. I hope your sister realizes that and holds out for a real treasure, and that you will see from this situation that those things really are important!

That's all. Really. I'm done with my philosophical and moralistic ramblings..
