I find out within a few hours after piping they are ready to come out of the egg. Sometimes they get lazy and stay in the egg for a few days. Just tap the side of the egg and if they are ready which I'm sure by now they are. They will come out of the egg.
I had a few that hadn't even slit the egg yet, they have now... so I have 3 new pippies & 5? I believe I counted out of the egg. Squirmy lil' worms right out of the egg huh? LOL... 1 of em' has some awesome attitude & called me lunch several times :dgrin:
I found abit of a negative to the 'egg crate/light diffuser' incubation method... fishing the lil' buggars from inbetween the slats & having to lift it up to get the ones from underneith... so had to lift it out, being careful as I had 3 hatching on it still to get the ones from under and clinging to the thing... lol... will I use it again tho yes.
Please get rid of the light diffuser method crap you don't need it . I don't see what use it is for. I like to bury the eggs in just plain old sphagnum moss in a sealed container.
So far looke like just normals and no Cinders yet . I got my fingers crossed for you!!!!!!!
I have a feeling the 2nd to last photo, the one peeking its nose out... I had a good look at it then it pulled its head back in... I'm thinking that lil' fellow is my cinder... I couldnt see the other 2... they were still hiding... maybe my cinders were waiting to surprise me... that's what I'm telling myself
But anyway I have a good feeling on the one peeking out & who knows about the other 2
Over all I'm really happy with the outcome... this bunch looks like they will represent Miami's quite well, just as the Pair I used for them do

♥ Its a cinder, ITS A CINDER *happy dance* :dancer: With a wickid head pattern to boot niiiice.
Another Miami hatched
& here is chicken little still in its egg... lol... s'ok... it only just slit its egg this morning.
while looking over my pride & joy before putting him/her in the bin with the rest... I noticed a red protuberance at the vent... anyone else notice this on a hatching just out of the egg & did it resolve itself?
All eggs are done hatching... the 2 that went ick were infact duds... I cut them open & inside was a white pastey type subtance, interesting how long they incubated before going bad if they were infertile.
12 were laid, 1 was a slug, 2 ended up being infertile, 9 good eggs hatched. Being Miami's het Cinder... getting 1 Cinder out of the group & the rest being some fine looking Miami's... I'm happy with the result.
Indeed, with your higher # of eggs, hopefully you get more than I did. I am just bubbling over with joy with the 1 fantastic looking one I got
I hope I can only be as happy when my clutch hatches in 2 months. I'm so happy for you. Goood luck with it and I hope it feeds for you . Keep us up dated.
