Ah yes....that is the operative word. I never sold him or gave him away...he just didn't make it. I had him breeding for 3 years but he just never recovered from year three. I've had a lot of trouble with the patternless/vanishing pattern line and the homozygous animals are very week. The outcrossed normal 'hets', however, are very hardy and this year should show me if it is a gene or rather a selectively bred trait.Tula_Montage said:"I had a anery, amel, lavender stripe/patternless.....that's the only quad I've had that I can remember off the top of my head."
Had being the operative word - I thought you no longer had him in your possession?

Tula_Montage said:There will always be debate when it comes to new morph names. Hypo lavs are being called amethyst quite regularly in the UK. I just like hypo lav. I don't like the term plasma though... I won't class any lavender diffused animals I may acquire in the future as plasma.
However whoever produces new morphs will have (to some extent) a "right" to call it whatever they want. But if it doesn't wash with the buyers then theres no way the "superduperthingymebob" will stick. General concensus always overpowers ones individuals preferences - when it comes to markets like this. And generally so far, corn morphs are appropriately named IMO.

But then again I hate hate hate "Plasma" - that's a straw-yellow blood product in my mind's eye!
toyah said:I've only ever seen amethyst as a synonym for plasma - I've only seen one adult lavender diffused "in real life" but IMO she was very much more an amethyst than plasma.
The other name I've seen for snopal/glacier is pearl, which personally I think fits in very nicely with opal in a less corny way than snopal.
Back to multiple recessives - I think the closest I have is a coral snow het bloodred (triple plus het). I will be breeding some lavenders het amel, anery, and hypo though - coral snopal anyone?![]()
You need to make the proper sacrifice for the Odds Gods to smile upon you. This year, I may have to move up to a virgin ram as the several black roosters last year produced 4 blue motleys, but none of them ate more than 3 meals. I'm hoping for a caramel diffuse (eating) as well as more blue motleys (also eating)...so perhaps a fatted calf instead of the ram. I'm saving the children for something REALLY special.TandJ said:. Now I need to relax and hope the Odd's God's look my way and grant me thier blessings, eithier with the hets lining up or granting me the winning lotto ticket!
