My babies are pipping! 1st clutch ever & proving hets...

Gralena

Corn Snake Diva
Well, my day has finally arrived....day 61 and the babies are pipping. I have 20 eggs and so far I can see about 8 or 9 with heads or the tips of noses peeking out. I am excited because I can already see 3 red noses which proves my male is at least het Amel. The parents are:

Parfait (female) is Amel het Caramel, Stripe p/h Anery, Charcoal, Hypo
Big Mac (male) is Hypo p/h Amel, Caramel

Here are some pics...the first is on day 57 of the dimpling as it started and then the pippies are today.
More to follow...as they emerge :)

Thanks! So far 5 have totally emerged and they are normals. Of course the amels I want to come out are just peeking. They are so tiny and cute!! When I put one in his new little home he immediately started drinking water...so adorable! Here are a few pics...

Don't forget caramels are also dark when they hatch. I think I see two different looking colors in the pile of normals there. Can't wait to see the amels!

Jen - Yeah, I have been thinking the same thing. I'm trying not to mess with them too much but I'm going to take some side by sides of the darker babies...2 look suspiciously "caramel" to me based on what I've seen online of baby ones.

Here are some pics of the amels....we are up to 7 amels, 7 dark questionables? :) 2 of the pics are just cute ones of a couple normals.

That's so awesome! The babies look very healthy with gorgeous coloring. This is your first time breeding ever? How much sleep did you lose? ;)

Thanks!...yes, this is my 1st time breeding. It was very exciting and I was blessed to have 2 cooperative snakes that DID read the book! lol. Everything has gone smoothly and timing was just right. Really the most overwhelming part is now that I see all of these babies!!! That is a lot of mouths to feed!! :)
