Alright, so I'm new to snakes. Decided to get a corn snake, somehow ended up with two. Separate tanks, I have a lot of questions and I'd rather ask people familiar and experienced with corn snakes than say, pet stores.
Firstly... home made huts?? Is there anything I SHOULDNT use? What is bad for them? What can I use in their tanks?
Handling... when is the best time to handle, how do I handle? The one I have (pic attached) has never been handled. I did tonight by picking up by two hands, let (him?) Wander and gently put (him) back in his case. He seemed alright. I have a million other questions, which I'll be sure to post. But for now... :)
(Id post a picture of Houdini MF but shes sleeping off her meal)

They are so cute when they're babies: all eyes.

*Separate tanks: Bravo!

*Home-made huts: tupperware, cardboard boxes, toilet paper/paper towel rolls. Just be careful of tape or glue, or anything made of pine (including substrate), or this thing:http://www.petsmart.com/reptile/hab...-catid-500009?var_id=36-15062&_t=pfm=category

*Just don't handle within a day or so of him/her eating, and preferably during shed cycle. Be gentle, obviously. Start with a few minutes at a time, maybe a few times per week to get him accustomed to handling.

*Sounds like you're doing great, so far. Ask away. Lot's of helpful and very experienced folks here. Warning, opinions vary. Take everything we tell you, research it, use your judgement with the animal's well-being in mind, and you'll do fine! Congrats and welcome to your new addiction.

BTW, Houdini is a perfect name. They are escape Masters! How does your lid or enclosure secure?

Joba covered that well, so I'll just say, Hello and welcome! That is a cute little snakelet!

welcome and you have a cutie pie! I am glad to see Im not the only one that planned on so many corns and ended up with more.. LOL

Hahah thank you:)
I handled Redeya more tonight (any suggestions on named help me out:p) what does it mean when they stretch out?

My one lid is not secure, so I have a guitar amp on it.. :p the other one has clasps and clicks in. Definitely wanting to buy a more secure one for Houdini.

Welcome! As for securing the viv, I use velcro. One piece on the lid, two separate pieces (one on the edge of the viv, one on top of the lid). This works great and is pretty inconspicuous. Just make sure one off the rolls is for sewing, not sticking. That will be your long piece, the smaller ones will stick to the viv.

The clips work great too, I just never got into them and still use 4 6x6" heavy pavers on each corner one of my boy's tank which has two lids on it! He is a complete Houdini, and escaped 4 times so he SHOULDN'T be able to get out of this!
