My first little pippie!

Pippies boring? No way! Just wait 'til they have their first shed, first feed......with all the little variations in colour, pattern and head markings.....
I'm so glad your little one with the umbilical issue is improving too. Now you have to get ventral shots of them too to show their belly checks off!

Congratulations! Yup, no one can resist a baby...Having pippies isn't like _buying_ more snakes, anyway.

Chams are so cool, but I hate that they don't live very long...

Well, I get a little bored sometimes. :)

I was thinking I might try that next spring or maybe marbles??
I was originally looking for marbles, too, but didn't find any easily. I guess you probably would find those at toy stores, and we don't frequent those. It wouldn't be worth it if you had large number of clutches, but if you had large numbers of clutches, then it would be worth it to buy some eggcrate. I just didn't want to go the eggcrate route because I didn't want to have a bunch of extra eggcrate sitting around.

Hey, congratulations! I'm happy to read about the whole thing too (now that I've seen this...); I get to do that vicarious-breeder thing. It's good to see a first clutch progressing so well, too.

You'll have to convince Kristi to give us updates on you and the crew sometimes while you're away.

Just a quick question, how do you take such great photos of those babies??
I've tried several times on my digital cameras but every time I tried to zoom in it blurs out and if I don't zoom in, they don't look like anything (my corns are over two months old by the way, so a bit bigger than your new borns).
I've also borrowed my parents' $500+ professional photographer camera...still didn't work very well...

Congrats Steph what a wonderful job you did! They are so sweet! I love the pics of them picking out! Too cool!! :)

You need to use the macro lens or macro setting, and then, crop them before posting. But really, I'm the last person to ask for picture-taking advice! But start there and see what happens.

Last three are out! Last three are normal, and one has a little zag across three saddles. The very last normal was dead-in-egg. It made slits, but they were small and it never pushed its way out. It was in one of the really small eggs, and it didn't seem to be finished with absorbing its yolk when I pulled it out and flushed it down the toilet. That's ok; 10 is a nice, round number. So I have a total of 4 aneries and 6 normals. I've got them all in gladware containers and I just hotglued all their bottlecap water bowls down so they'd stop knocking over their water. After they shed, I'll attempt to feed them, and start practicing my popping technique. I've done it before, but I wouldn't say I'm good at it.

Stephanie, this is SO exciting! I can't believe you're breeding already! I remember when you first joined. I definitely have a love for Anerys as well. Let me know if/when you start hatching out Phantoms!

It's so cool that Kristy is getting excited about this little clutch too. I love when my boyfriend shows a little bit of interest in my snakes. I'm assuming she'll be caring for you snakes while you're away? Who knows, maybe she'll start to think they're really rad!

Well, Kristi will already be taking care of our dogs, cats, and tortoises, and mortgage while I'm gone. And in that time, she'll probably defend her own dissertation, get a real job, and move us. So, I'm not about to saddle her with taking care of my snakes as well. My plan is to take some hard looks at what I really want to keep, to sell what I don't want to keep, and to farm out the snakes I want to keep to friends. If the farming option doesn't work, I'll have to sell and start over when I get back. I'm hoping I can loan breedable animals to people I can trust for free for two years. If not, I'll just start over. I'd love to loan them to people I know (and trust) on the boards who could use them in their own breeding plans. We shall see. But I certainly have some friends around here who would probably take a free snake and set-up for them time I'm gone. This plan won't go into effect until I am awarded a major grant and therefore know for sure that I'm leaving. :)

hmm macro lens...let me go look, thanks for replying. :)
i think ur photos r great and the babies look absolutely gorgeous!

I have a bunch of unrelated questions...Like, where are you going?? What will you be doing?? How exciting!

Too bad I'm not closer- I'd gladly babysit.

:shrugs: Kayla wants to know where pictures are of the mom and dad of the pippies. It is so exciting to see all of the pippies. Can we get a picture of all of them together? :crazy02:
