My Gartersnake Ate!!

Isn't sirtalis the latin name for the eastern garter snake?
Maybe Sir Talis? :)
(Just an idea)

I feel so priveledged that I was one of the very first people to ever see this kid. What an amazing snake (and weekend!)

I think that was the perfect trade for you! And he is so awesome! I am glad he ate for you. Not that I doubted he would, every snake I have from Don eats every time, even in blue!

Yay Nanci!!! I get to have his brother as well, in a breeding loan with Don. Psssh, I get every other baby, when you get ALL of his babies! LUCKY!
But he really is gorgeous.
The striping on these guys is wider than the usual Tessera stripage, from a special project of Dons- you and I are the only two that have something from this lineage (I am pretty sure).
Grats Nanci- hope you are gonna start a progression thread on him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Extreme Wide Stripe! He's so cute...I love his brother, too. You should name him Moose.

I think what you guys are referring to is wider borders, not stripes. I had the chance to look them over before you guys got them and that was the discussion with Don, they were held back for a wider borders project.

Nice snake and good luck with your breedings

In case anyone is confused- I was NOT complaining about Gartersnake's tail. Just observing. I couldn't see that he had a very tiny tail injury until I saw it in the photos. Poor baby!! I _love_ this snake, and it was the best snake trade in history. The End.

Whatever you name him Nanci, I will follow suit and name the brother with something related to what you've named yours.

And you are correct Camby it is the black side striping or 'border'. but it is striping non-the-less and was the intent.

Exactly

Gartersnake would be a name of utmost respect. Gartersnakes are my first love, of all herps. I teethed on gartersnakes. My first WC anything was a gartersnake. Gartersnakes are primacy, for me. Denying the importance of gartersnakes in my life would be like denying the importance of mother's milk. I perfected my snake-catching skills on gartersnakes. Gartersnakes taught me how and where and when to flip. I spent hundreds if not thousands of hours, days, summers hunting gartersnakes. The first snake my first_born_ caught was a gartersnake. To me, "snake" is synonymous with "gartersnake."

How many and what kind of garters do you own? Any pics of them (don't post them in this forum though)

I wouldn't argue against you on that, I am just used to seeing stripe applied to the actual stripe down the center of the snake. BTW, I saw yours in Daytona, nice deep red to it, should produce some nice ground colors along with the thickened borders

None. But here's the latest one I caught and released: (Actually, it wasn't much of a capture. More like, "Hey, Katie, there's a gartersnake. Want me to catch it?" Last summer. I love the blue ones.

Well, in the gartersnake tradition, Gartersnake pooped on me today during his little photoshoot! Cutie!!

Beautiful snake, Nanci. I am glad it all worked out so well. It was such a pleasant (more than that really) surprise.
Meaning living it vicariously thru you. :D
