My Gator Land Photo Thread

Some of my favorite shots on the day...it was just so beautiful to watch!
There were a bunch of egrets sitting on the tops of the mangroves making nests and putting on displays and "dancing" to attract a female...I couldn't be much happier with how these photos turned out. It isn't every day (even in Florida) that you get a photo opportunity like this!

Off to work on some more...back in a bit!

Katie, (nice Great Egrets!!!) the birds you are calling Cattle Egrets are Snowy Egrets. Cattle Egrets have a yellow bill.

That is what I thought too - but one of the signs they had along the boardwalk showed them as cattle egrets - so I was runnin' with it! Snowys are also a slightly taller, more slender little egret than the cattle egrets...
I was second guessing myself this whole time about it too....guess I should've gone with what I "thought" I "knew" was right...

The one that ALWAYS messes me up - and I had to look in my bird book to be sure..is the difference between the Great White Egrets and the Great White Herons...the egrets have black legs and the herons have yellow legs!

I just realized I never posted the remaining photos I edited from this trip. I found them today while starting to work on my photos from the Ren Faire this past weekend.
My apologies - and here are the rest:

This is the Gator Jumparoo show where they dangle pieces of chicken over the side and get the gators to "jump" for them:

Stoopid computer :headbang:

EDIT: Wait now I can see them! Rebooting solves all problems. I wish that worked in real life :grin01: Those are gorgeous pics Katie! Looks like you 3 had a fantastic time. I'm so jealous! I especially love those Egret pics.

Awesome pics!
I love the courting egrets and the wrestling pics.
It looks like you all had a great time, I am sorry I wasn't able to join you.
