My 'Hypo Sunglow' Boy

So I found this guy back in June along with my fat amel girl. The guy who had him said he was a "hypo sunglow"

As far as I can tell....he's just a nice hypo. Let me know what you think....

He also still needs a name!

Hmmmm.....maybe. I like names in other languages.....For instance, I named my cat "Kuronezumi" Which is Japanese for "black rat"....long story.

So if he was a hypo sunglow, he'd have red eyes, right??

He's looking great, and also it looks like your girl is losing some weight!

Yes Nanci a sunglow is line bred amel with no white. Hypo can be used to make a sunglow or Motley for that matter. I would call him a nice Hypo as he is not an amel.

Yeah...that's why I put it in quotation marks...I thought it was silly as he is OBVIOUSLY not amel. He was $50 along with the amel girl....so I went ahead and got him just for the heck of it.

From what I can (barely) see of the eyes, they're black, so definitely not a Sunglow. Could very well be a Hypo, but that's one of them that are borderline and could be just a really light Normal. It IS a gorgeous snake none-the-less.

Thanks all! I figured with the brown/orange belly checks I could be pretty sure of the "Hypo" diagnosis. His eyes are indeed black. Whatever he is I love him!

And I LOVE the name Arancione!!!

Here's a better eye shot......

I have a few normals that have black on the edges brown towards the middle and very heavy yellow/orange bellies. But they are not known Hypos. Just regular normals.. Hypos can be tricky things.

Well maybe he is a normal then....I guess I won't know til I breed him and test it out! I guess I have the excuse I need now to get that female ghost I've been wanting! (Yes I know that ghost is hypo + anery....)

Just don't ask me how to pronounce it... LOL

There ARE a lot of normals that look like hypos, so you never know till you breed him. Looks like he has pretty brown eyes to me, though!

Maybe the seller meaned "hypo sunglow" as a sunglowish (yeah, made up a new word) version of hypo - which would mean bright colours and no white. Selectively bred hypo just like sunglow is selectively bred amel.

Although it is quite obvious this one seems to be rather light and bright colored normal, and there's no proof of it beinge from selective bread lines of any sort. MAYBE there are sunglows and/or hypos in the line. Maybe he is multiple het for something which could explain the bright color. Who knows.

Or maybe he is a hypo after all.

You definitely must prove him out! ;)

Nice fella anyway! :)

Arancione...

Well I don't know much italian, but some french instead.

I guess the voyells should be pronounced simply as they're written, not as they're pronounced in english. So in this word "A" is pronounced like "U" in the word "BUT" or "BUN".

R is very sharp, if you can make the "purrrrrrrrrrr"-sound. ;)

CI im not sure of. It could be either pronounced as "si" (yes in italian) , like shortened "see", or "tsi", just like you'd say "Let's see" but leave the "Le" out.

O is accented strongly as if there was double O. Like the long voyell in the word "Tall".

NE is simply NE like in the word Netherlands on Nepal.

That's how I'd pronounce is with my poor knowledge of French. :D

Only problem with this theory, is that there's no real white to have missing in a Hypo snake. The white found on an Amel snake is the location where the black pigment is found on a Normal. Sunglow (for the most part) means no white. That wouldn't work with a Hypo-looking normal unless Sunglow actually meant (or referred to) lacking borders (be they white or black).
