My new logo for my breeding business (well for next year..lol)

Sky High Reptiles - makes me think of that song "The CORN is as high as an elephant's eye, and it keeps growing right up to the SKY!" LOL! Maybe you could work that into your design, haha!

Lol...yea...typo..lol "SHR" :0) I mentioned it to my partner and he likes it as well..so it looks like that's our name :0)

OKay..so...I've finally made a brand new logo for my new name "Sky High Reptiles" and I really really really like how this came out :0) Let me know what you all think :0)

I think it is visually appealing and easy to read. I am not sure if you had a particular reason to choose those colors (maybe your favorites?). But with the name Sky High, is seems like blue and white would be relevant colors. Maybe a puffy white cloud passing behind the sky blue letters? Maybe even a light blue background overall, with the somewhat darker blue letters highlighted by a puffy, white cloud? Or something similar?

It is true that you don't want to get TOO detailed in a logo, so I don't know if you could make this work without getting too fussy. But it COULD be cute to have the words framed on either side by a couple of very tall stalks of corn, reaching up to the sky ("corn is as high as an elephant's eye", lol!). They would probably be too small to have scale patterns of corns and ball pythons, kind of like in my avatar. But maybe they could have suggestions of semi abstract snakes coming out of the tassels - or something? I am not an artist, but maybe you could play around with images and see if you can figure something that would click.

Just some ideas - don't know if they would work.

I chose the colors because while looking at the sun logo I made I kind of thought it looked like the sun was setting. So I tried to stay simple and use some soft sunset colors for visual appeal. Plus I learned in college that red and deep orange colors are hot colors and get noticed very quickly. I just thought the colors really mixed well with one another andfor the reptiles part.I made it green to pick it out a bit and used a font that almost similarized with the design of the sun logo..the lizard is there for one to show this business involves reptiles and also I thought it looked pretty decorative mixing with the "s" in reptiles...I can try and work with it a bit as your ideas do sound interesting but I am generally pleased with it's current color and design..but we will see..thank you :)

I'm not a fan of the color scheme either. The yellow and the burnt orange go together well, but not the green. Maybe try not such a grassy green? Maybe a deeper green to flow better with the the burnt orange?

I also think the fonts don't compliment each other and instead distract from the overall appearance of the logo. What I would do is choose one or the other and then use a more standard font (Arial, Verdana, Optima, etc) for the opposing. I also don't care for "R" in the second font. It makes me think of Harry Potter with that lightening bolt! :D If you have Illustrator (CS4 Photoshop might do it too), you can convert the font to outlines and change that points in that R around to blend better with the rest of the letters.

Overall I think you have a very good start and with a bit of refining could have a logo that stands out against the competition. :)

I think the logo is great, but I think it would have been cool if you had put a snake instead of a lizard (I think it looks like a gecko). Kind of like what I am doing with my developing logo ( I am still working on it)

Another update on my business..lol

Well I was just going through some of my old posts and came across this one. It's really kind of interesting to go through the posts I've made through the years..All the beginner questions I had when I first joined..If you haven't done this, definitely take the time to take a trip down memory lane and glance at some of your old posts..It really brings back the memories of the good days along with the "not" so good days..lol..

Anyway...getting back on subject here...With Harry now gone, I have decided that my business (which isn't even an official business yet) needs to be redone once more.."Sky High Reptiles" just holds too much memory of my partnership with my not so friendly X-partner...so...I have decided on a new name that I hope is not taken..I have done a search on the web and haven't found any company named it yet..so I am taking it and hopefully can get it official this coming spring...My new business name is:

Colubrid Central

I will be working on a logo for this sometime within the next 2 weeks or so..So keep an eye out for it..Hopefully this will go a little more smoothly then my last few ideas..but that's the best part about not being official yet..I can change the name and appearance of the logo as I wish :) heheh...

Any thoughts or opinions on the new name is greatly appreciated as always :)

umm..minus all the little quotations in the name...Don't know why those appeared there..

"Colubrid Central"
