So this past year was my very first attempt at breeding. I had done alot of research and I probably bugged people by asking so many questions.
Anyways, my very first attempts at breeding came out like this:
My first female to drop eggs was an Anery het motley, whom I bred to an amber het motley. (Going for second gen morphs here)...she laid 15 eggs, one that looked kind of odd-shaped and discolored on the ends but bright white in the middle in July.
A little over two months later (date to hatch was the 19th but they decided to pip starting yesterday and aren't out yet this morning)...I go in to check on the eggs for about a week...Noticing a major change in texture in the eggs and that they were becoming softer. Because the eggs were stuck together, I had to lift (Carefully) the whole bunch and bring them into a dark room to check on them with a flashlight. But it was super hard to tell what was going on - but I DID see veins and masses inside. Nothing turned yellow.
So past couple days I've really been watching them. The soft/textured spots I had noticed before where beginning to dimple. And then last night? I went in after my college class and practically dropped the container..because I saw baby heads sticking out!
What's even more amazing is apparently both parents are het for amel...because as of this morning, there are four pink amel heads and six classics. I stayed up until almost 4am watching them - only because this is my very first clutch and it is so exciting. I saw several move and then slit their shell..and then watched as the sixth one (i originally walked in on four...i saw 8 by the time I went to bed and woke up to ten)....literally shoved herself as far out as she could. She looks like she will be motley - and has a cute little lit candle shape on its head. (Dunno if its she...)...I've already named her Candle. Another one, number five, had split its shell and had began shoving its head out multiple times (I didn't see the other ones do this)..until HE almost came out as well! I named him Torpedo.
So, none are fully out -yet-..but I expect them to be soon. I've got 10 so far of the 15 - and the one I thought to be a dud? Is one of the current ten. I'll be keeping a close eye on that one..especially since the egg I thought was going to be a dud due to the discolored ends and the odd shape.
I don't have any new pictures yet..but I do have enough.
Also, as for the rest of my breeding attempts - I had bred a miami phase het amel to an amel...and unfortunately it turns out the male is almost completely sterile. He had successfully bred once before I got him but only 4 eggs were good. This time, NONE of the eggs were good. =(....Third attempt at breeding was a grey rat snake female..who only locked up with the male once. These are the next ones to hatch here in September.
Fourth attempt was actually a surprise. I had bred my ball python but that was MONTHS ago and I did not realize it took so long for them to develop eggs...because I did notice she quit eating for me the past two or os months...and then all of a sudden I go in there..and boom! eggs! She had never shown signs of being gravvid either...Unfortunately some of the eggs are turning out to be duds even though I'm doing my best at keeping incubation temps/humidity correct.
So those were my breeding attempts thus far...and one clutch is already hatching! I'm so excited! I was shaking and jumping around and yelling for joy when I saw the babies sticking their noses out. I had alot of doubts about my first time breeding and kept thinking I had done something wrong, etc..but so far..the babies are hatching! I just hope they eat now!

The above picture is what I first walked in on..two albino's and two darker ones which I'm assuming are classics...but compared to two other classic heads (that I could see for sure)..it is really hard to tell.
