Need Day Old Pinkies

At 9 grams the snake should theoretically be able to handle a 3 gram mouse pink. If you can get yourself to cut one in half, offer half, you will be surprised how stretchy the lil buggers can be. LOL

I feed normal small pinks to 9 gram snakes. You just haven't seen a baby in a while! My hypolav stripes were 6g when I got them!

God. really? Lol I Just couldn't see that little thing eating something so Big! lmao! ( Protective momma) :)

I think Emily was 14g when I got her. And The butter was 12. Soo this is smallest for me. I will try a normal Pickie then! I Hope he gets it down ok! :) My Little Bug Eyed friend!

Well just look at the size of the pink compared to the size of the snake, in the middle of the snake. If the pink is the same or very slightly larger in diameter, it should be fine!

i think there have been some that feed mouse tails from larger mice until they can handle a pinkie, that might upset your stomach less than a severed head
but if you chop while frozen it isnt too bad

lol Thanks Nanci! I am just a paranoid Moma. I don't want any Regurges!

I Don't have the car again till Thurs. So I will go one night when hubby is off work and get something! :)

My Jewel hit 11 grams this week. She looks so thin! But she takes 2-3 gram pinks in stride. She has a big mouth lol! Eats up her pink and looks for more for almost 20 minutes! I look at that lump in her belly and think poor thing! But she is a happy little girlie :) After a few feedings you will feel better. My normal het amel stripe was really thin like her so for a few feeds I fed the pink cut in half but gave both halves. He has eaten wonderfully for me no matter what I gave except the first time he was in blue for me. He refused once since I have had him. I'm sure your lil baby will do just fine :) Try to get a feed pic, they are always fun!

lol. Well My mom is coming up today to run arrends with me ..since i don't have the car all week. I will see if I can get her to take me somewhere to get a Pinkie. And I may have hubby cut it in half for me lmao! ;)

I was going to take pics last night of me hacking up pinks!! I guess I should have. I cut it in half, crosswise, while frozen and then thawed. It wasn't bloody or anything! I'll take a pic when I do it again in five days.

Well, I got a friend of mine that works at a Reptile shop near by. And I told him to keep a eye out for Small Pinkies.. frozen for me. And He didnt think he was going to get any in till next week. But he called tonight and had a box of 3! And since I didnt get theAnery to eat.. He gave me a Live Weaned mouse to see if he would eat that. And I never had fed live.. so the squeek they do.. startled me! Lol But, He ate it quicker then I could put it in there. It was small for him.. But, I think he will be ok till next week :)

And the lil Worm.. Ate his Pinkie! He took it faster then I thought he would! Lmao So, I did get pics for those of you that would be interested. I will post them later. YAY! :)

Shrink the Pink!

Buy as small a live pink as you can and then place it in a container and just let it sit for a day or two. Be sure to keep it in a warm spot. The pink will loose weight and size therefore "shrink". If you can get pinks that are say 4 days old, then you should be able to shrink one down to the size that makes you feel comfortable.

I know this doesn't seem very "humane" but you have to make the decision to either do it or hope you find little ones soon.

Unless the snake will only take live, a more humane solution, that will still get you what you need, is to put the "too large" pink in the freezer. Once frozen cut it in half and feed half at a time. Saves a bit of money and freezing pinks is thought to be the most humane way to euthanize. Haven't read the whole thread, so if it'll only take live... sorry!
