NEW ADDITION. STRIPPED GHOST CORN.

Nice motley! It could still be a motley X stripe - it's snakes like yours that make me doubt whether motley is completely dominant when motley and stripe are combined, I've hatched a few like that one.

Thanks Jen. Well from the little i know of genetics, i thought that motley is supposed to hide stripe so if it was motley x stripe, how could you tell?:shrugs:

You couldn't... unless you bred it to a stripe and got some stripes. I still have a couple snakes here I need to test breed! Your ghost is really pretty!
What I was trying to say is sometimes the motley x stripes are more stripe looking like yours there :)

Feeding night at the zoo tonight. I gave casper two tiny pinkies and he ate both of them without any hesitation. Its always a relief when a new corn snake eats.

A stripe however is an entirley seperate gene where there there are usually 4 seperate stripes down the snakes body, 2 on the dorsal and one on each side. Unfortunatleu some striped motleys are so good looking that they are often called stripes.

Motley and Stripe share the same allele, right? That's the reason the motley and stripe pattern tend to blend together? That seems to be the consensus on the forum, but I'm curious to know if anyone who's bred two "motley/stripes" has gotten any actual stripes from it, or just more motleys with one good long run.

DJFreeBase, The characteristic motley of this snake is the break in the "stripe" near the neck, and the few places where the pattern bulges out, as if to form dots. ;)
