New, Just got a week old corn today!

I'll throw out a yes, then. Yes, get that snake off the pine!!! It would be better to use paper towels for the time being but pine is not a safe wood.

Ah, I did not know that. Swapping out the pine and putting newspaper in there until I order some fir bedding.
Thanks for all the info! Now I know where to go with any more questions I may have.

I'm glad you're a 'no' lady :) I appreciate the help, since this is my first snake. I definitely want all of the best for her, nothing unhealthy

Here's a caresheet I wrote.

Here's a thing about acclimating a new reptile. Very important!!

Please get her off the pine NOW. Don't wait.

She will like the toilet paper hides better if you squish them flat, and partially bury them. I'd leave those in after you get the "nice" hide. A toothpaste box cut in half crosswise is also a favorite!

When you go to feed her, don't just thaw the pink, make it REALLY hot. As hot as your tap water will go. Then put her in a very small container, like a small margerine cup (with tiny holes) or a deli cup if she came in that from the breeder. Put the pink in, put her in, close the lid, cover it up with a dish towel or T-shirt so she can't see out, and leave her completely alone, no peeking, for an hour. You will have the best luck if you feed after dark in the evening.

She's adorable- good luck!!

I took her off the pine as soon as I read that she should not be on it, she has a towel in there that is folded on each end where she can hide until her new bedding and hide comes in. I will definitely try that when I feed her, thanks so much guys! :)

And thanks for the compliments on her, she is a gorgeous little thing :) And I'll read both the caresheet and the new reptile thing as well. I'll update as soon as I can!

Also, she was not shipped, the breeder lives down the road from me and I picked her up in her original living cage. The heating pad came in today, and the thermostat should be here Monday along with new bedding. :)

I wouldn't put the heat mat on yet until you get the thermostat. I wouldn't want to see your gorgeous little baby fried.

She is really cute and is super pretty. You should make a progression thread for her.

I haven't put the heating pad on for that reason :) I'll definitely look into making a progression thread! I love showing my little baby off <3

Thermostat came in, and the top of my cage was letting a lot of the heat out, so I taped it over (Sticky side up so if Dante somehow touches it, it's the non sticky side) And now it's maintaining a good 85 degrees Fahrenheit . :)

Where are you taking the temp? You should really have the prob by the mat. Temp at the top of the tank really isn't important with corns since they spend most their time on the ground. However you do not want to have him burrow through the bedding and burn himself on the mat.

It is close to where the mat is, but not directly on top of it. Basically in the center of the tank :) The temp was only around 75 so I knew something was wrong, so I blocked off the top and it warmed right up to where it needed to be

Yeah I would put it over the mat. You really want to make sure the mat isn't getting so hot it could burn your snake. The temp on the other side really isn't that big of a deal since there is not heat on it.

Okay can do :)

So apparently I missed a spot somewhere on the lid, and my little corn escaped last night... I can't find her anywhere and my house is really old.. Is there any way I could lure her out somehow?

Thanks! I'm really worried because there are a LOT of holes in my house that she could get out of.. I'm very worried

With a tiny baby like her it is going to be hard. Look everywhere!! Even in drawers. You would be amazed at the amount of stories I have heard where someone opened a drawer and there they were. I have found one in the toilet before as well. If you have other pets watch them closely. They will often tell you where they are. I had a cat that kept looking at me and then down the hallway repeatedly. I took the hint from her and was able to catch the escapee quickly.

Things to try. You can put flour down on all hard surfaces of the floor. If she is on the move at night, you might see where she is going. You can put BLUE painters tape down on the floor sticky side up so if she slithers across it she will get stuck. When I tried this I put it all around baseboards because they generally hug the baseboards when they are on the move. If she gets caught in the tape DON'T PULL IT OFF! Use olive oil or a vegetable oil to loosen the tape.

Most of all GOOD LUCK!!
