We just got our first corn snake 3 weeks ago. My 5 year old son named her Fuzzy, ironic I know. My 2 year old loves her to pieces and wants to treat her like one of her stuffed animals. She's about 14 inches long now and I can't believe how go she is. Don't
have a scale to weigh her but I could do that at our local reptile store. My question is how often do corns shed? Thank you.

At her age, she will shed about every 4 to 6 weeks, depending on how much and how often you feed her. Cute name!

Hi Elaine! Welcome! I use a digital food scale I bought at Target for like $30 to weigh my snakes. Fuzzy was 7g at hatching, and if she's like her similar-sized siblings, is probably around 10g now.

Hypnoctopus, Fuzzy is from my clutch this year. :D

LauRuffian? Laura is that you? Sweet name. I'm still getting the hang of this forum. Fuzzy eats like a pro. I got a really good video of her eating yesterday, but no pics. I'll try to get some today. She was moving around a lot after she ate, when afterwards she normally goes into her hide to rest. Does she want more to eat? When do I feed her more? Someone in here mentioned a scale of some kind to follow, but I forgot where I saw it. Do you know the name of it? How are her bros and sis's doing? Nice to see you on here.

Hypnoctopus, I still feed her once a week, one pinkie. Thanks, the name is cute. [emoji2]

Yup, it's me. :) This place has been invaluable to me as I've bred my snakes, and it's where I found my new corns this past summer. Folks around here are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Her siblings are now all rehomed (sniff)--one went to Alabama, another to Arkansas, and another more locally to Murrietta. Last weekend, the rest went to the store where we bought their father except for Creeper--we're keeping him as part of the yearlong classroom study.

I've got those two snow corns we're fostering, though, so we sold seven then brought two home! :D Temporarily, at least, though.

Hi! I'm new too and also have one of Laura's babies. I have Amelia but she is not 10g yet like the others. She was 8.4 last night and I've fed her 3 times now every 5 days.

Which one of the snakes did you get? Albino? Are you in Alabama or Arkansas? Or somewhere else?

Welcome! There are some great "stickies" at the top of each topic which will give you a lot of great advice, and Nanci, one of our best members, has written a great care sheet.

Also, there are several books on corns out there, two I suggest are written by forum members, Kathy Love and Don Soderberg.

Check it all out, and you will learn so much about these amazing creatures!

Fuzzy is starting to turn blue and she doesn't want to feed. She stared at the pinkie for a good 30 minutes before I took it away. It's sad. I've never had a corn snake before so this is all new.
