New Snake

Hi all,

New member with a new snake! She's a normal with several possible hets. I think her saddles/blotches are large - what do you think? I hope her black borders stay well defined. She feeds very well and I hope to breed her in a few years.

Here's some pics from 11/5:

Her she is on 11/12, she shed the night before and is enjoying a meal:

Any guesses on what she'll look like when she's all grown-up?

Very nice patterning on her you definitely got some hets playing around in there I think.

Thanks all - I'll try to do a progression of her color change. One of her possible hets is sunkissed and I'm wondering if that's why her saddles are so rectangular and even. Their width is what I especially liked - she reminds me of a banded but she isn't a motley at all.

She just shed again

So I once had a young ghost corn that was was very laid-back yet easy to feed. Unfortunately, I had to give him away (to a very good home). The new snake is even easier to feed, but she wasn't so laid-back when I held her - stretching and twisting away and scared of my other hand instead of going to it. She was kind of jumpy and even gave me a grazing bite - sunkissed genes? Well early last week before her feeding I tried the bold approach and just picked her up without thinking and she was great - curled around one hand and went easily to the other. Was nice and calm so I held her for about 20 minutes and then fed her. I intended to hold her in a few days to keep the taming process going, but I found her hiding in her damp hide box in blue. I checked the damp hide today and she looked very bright, but I didn't think there had been time for her to clear-up and shed. Then I turned over another hide and found her old skin! She was a little nervous again, but I was able to hold her for a bit so here are some more pics. She'll have a nice meal tonight.

Still have to decide on a name for her!

She is very beautiful! And I see I was right in my guess of one het- with her freckly little face!!

Thanks all again! She's getting tamer and she had 2 small pinkies last night then burrowed under her aspen to digest.

She is 66% possible het for sunkissed, diffused and charcoal. Her breeder was very nice and informative. While she’s not a line bred or locality Okeetee, I got her in part because her breeder said she’ll be brightly colored and potentially at least somewhat Okeetee-like, so I’m glad aleks sees it. I’d like to try breeding so the possible genetics are a bonus. I was especially hoping for sunkissed genes, and based on my own guesses about the blotches and her short(?) head/neck and what Nanci said about the freckles (thanks for the clue!) she may very well have that allele. Sunkisseds came from an Okeetee line, so maybe her look is a through-back? Other than Okeetees and bright normals, I like Miamis/crimsons, caramel-types (especially honeys), some ghost-types (especially pastels, corals) and orchids (cool pinks and purples). Charcoal does look pretty cool in combo with sunkissed or diffused.

Update

Here's some new pictures of Lindi shot in a sunny window this past Sunday. She's eating 2 frozen mice (at a size right in between large pinkies and small fuzzies) per feeding. She has also tamed down considerably, but is still quite active when being held.

She stayed still long enough for some good pics though:
