Hello: my name is Alicia and my daughter wants a reptile :wavey:
We have fish (dogs, cats & horses too) and have a 30gal tank that doesn't hold water so one of the requirements was something that would fit that tank and wouldn't need an upgrade. My husband kept suggesting a Bearded Dragon, but those need a BIG tank/enclosure when they are full grown and we don't have the room. I ruled out all other lizards that would fit our tank b/c I'm a wussy girl that doesn't do bugs  Our local mom & pop pet store suggested a corn snake, male ball python, kenyan sand boa or a rosy boa as snake possibilities. From there I narrowed it down to a corn snake, they seem to be the easiest for beginners to keep, come in a variety of colors and don't get that big looking. My husband isn't a snake fan, so something with less bulk looks less intimidating
I have lots of reading/learning to do and need to buy all the stuff to turn our tank into a proper snake home, so it will be a few months before we bring our new pet home. But I will be lurking around here and there and I'm sure asking a question or two as well
