Normal vs. Hypo - ID help

We've recently found out that our breeding pair (Normal het Amel, Lavender, Stripe) are both 50% het Hypo by finding their ACR information. Could you please help us verify if some of these babies are Normals or Hypos.

#1- Normal
#2- HYPO! :D
#3- Normal stripe
#4- Might be a hypo stripe. :D

But they are confirmed het hypo now I'd say, thanks to baby #2.

Thanks for the reassurance. Now its making sense why those 2 are so much lighter in color. This makes things interesting because we have another batch about to hatch soon so I'll be checking all of those for any Hypos too. Its going to be harder for me to tell with opals, lavenders and amels.... :S

I say:
Normal
MAY be hypo
Normal stripe
MAY be hypo stripe

It's usually much easier to ID the hypos from the normals right at hatching as some hypos get darker and some normals get lighter as they go through a couple of sheds. Looking at the belly checks will help immensely as a hypo will have bronze to saddle-color belly checks while a normals will have black (and maybe some color). As for the stripe, what do the eyes look like? Some hypos will have ruby eyes to help ID them.

Is the lavender a male or a female? If it's a male, then lavender. If it's a female then possibly a hypo lavender.

Thanks Susan, I'll have to look into that (saddle colors and eye colors, etc). As for the lavender, its a female.

Would sex determine coloring for hypo/non?

It really depends on the morph and this is NOT a 100% guaranteed method, but rather a generality based upon observations over many years. Male ghosts tend to be lighter and pinker than female ghosts. Male lavenders tend to be lighter than female lavenders. Male hypo lavenders tend to be lighter than female hypo lavenders. That being said, male lavenders and female hypo lavenders sometimes are the same color, hence the question as to what sex is it. Since it is female, I would be more apt to call it a hypo lavender then.

1. normal
2. normal
3. normal strip
4. poss. hypo stripe

Susan taught me a while back(and it was an awesome lesson, thank you Susan), to be careful labeling hypo. So when I am not sure, I label them normal.

For instance both are normals here one is just lighter.

Most would think this guy is a normal. Nope Hypo.

here is a typical(when I can tell) hypo hatchling.

Hypo tends to be a funny gene. Sometimes it is very obvious and sometimes it is very suttle. My thoughts. With that one possible hypo stripe, I would say its a good possibility that they have it. But future breedings would confirm it.

The other looks like a hypo lav, but I am not a lavender expert (yet).

Here's eye pictures from the 2 stripes:

Lighter colored Stripe

Darker colored Stripe

I don't see a difference in their eye color.

Also, here's the belly of the lighter Normal.

We plan on selling them as Normals and will tell whoever buys them that its possible they could be Hypo.
